Product Description

In Season 4 of the critically-acclaimed French spy series The Bureau, Malotru (Mathieu Kassovitz, Amélie) is hiding out in Moscow while being relentlessly pursued by the CIA and DGSE (France’s Directorate-General for External Security). In order to survive he explores a collaboration with the Russian secret service. Back in Paris, the “Bureau of Legends,” the most confidential branch of the DGSE, is in the crosshairs of JJA (Mathieu Amalric, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly), the new Director of Internal Security within the DGSE. JJA feels very strongly that The Bureau is due for a big shake-up: believing it had been under Malotru’s influence for far too long.

The show is similar to the TV Spy thriller, "24" that ran on the FOX network, during the 90s. Except with the
French, there is more subtlety and nuance, It is also very interesting, to view how the French, view us, which is
to say Our counterpart Agents, are somewhat "ham-handed", and "rough-cut", crude & more duplicitous towards even Allied Agents - like Le Bureau. The acting was never, over-down and effective and the characters in the series, were so very interesting and sexism is openly, addressed at the Bureau and dealt with, effective, confrontation, from very assertive women, and wise and discerning men. The episodes, have a "cliff-hanger" feel, like "24" TV series, which makes the Viewer want more. i am now trying to get Season 5 &1 when available. Americans, need to view this series, so they can see how Our European Allies view us. Great show, I heard it reviewed on NPR & had to get it and glad I did!! Iike to watch the "pilot" episode, last, as it makes it more compelling and the :arch" of the characters, more deeply drawn, an understandable.Brief, partial nudity, which I skipped over, so not for a General Audience of Children,

Had watched only the fifth season a while ago and now had the chance of watching the previous four. Great work, this is not only entertainment, it is also for enjoying acting and also food for the brain, as well as lot of information about all the main conflicts going on in the last ten years, at least the conflicts where Western powers are involved. Won't be surprised if a sixth season comes over, dedicated to the current large conflict in Eastern Europe.

The French series, The Bureau, takes place in several countries and involves Interwoven plots. It contains fine character development, settings, camera work-- all with an edgy sound track and superb, subtle acting. After the first several episodes, the series provides plenty of action, including some emotional and physical violence, while also exploring social issues, politics, morality, friendship, loyality, betrayal, and, yes, love. The result is a complex journey that demands the full attention of the viewer. After watching the first 3 seasons twice, the Bureau Season 4 did not disappoint.

With its low key approach to the genre of intelligence drama that balances trade craft with the personal trials of its protagonists, and half way believable and interesting spy plot development, the series does not seem to run out of steam for me.
The actors reflect the mix of professional skill and courage and personal vulnerability that the series aims for. Nothing is over the top here and everything shines.

First episode is the best but all 4 are very interesting and well done
The negative is that there is episode 5 which I can not get which means he got away again
It is fiction but good fiction
    French humor is quite subtle

This is by far the best séries of its genre that I have seen. After "Un Village Français". If you are waiting for a séries similar to Jack Ryan, don't bother. This is the réal thing. Story, acting and cinématography at its best.

The first half of season 4 has some badly written and slow-moving filler; apart from that, the show has a well-balanced set of characters, a nice number of plot twists, and provides a fun escapist opportunity to practice your high school French.

If you like French TV series, then this is a good one - one will likely need to have seen the previous ones to fully follow it

Excellent series. The first season needed a lot of concentration, so much so that I once or twice grew disheartened and wondered whether to persist. So glad I did! Went back to it after seeing subsequent seasons and it all made complete sense. Initial effort certainly pays off!
