4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 12,184 ratings

Round and round she goes, blonde pigtails flying, her high-pitched giggle catching on the wind. But as the ride slows to a stop, her seat is suddenly empty. Little Lucy is gone…

When seven-year-old Lucy Ross is snatched from the carousel in Denton city park,
Detective Josie Quinn joins the frantic search. She’s the one who finds Lucy’s sparkly butterfly backpack abandoned by the ticket booth, a note with a devastating message stuffed inside: answer your phone, or your sweet little darling will die…

The next day, Lucy’s parents are filled with hope when they pick up a call which they think is from their babysitter – but instead it’s a chilling male voice on the line. Josie races to the babysitter’s small apartment only to find her lifeless body in a tangle of sheets on her bed.

Josie is faced with the most high-stakes case of her career as each new phone call from someone connected to the family ends with the shocking discovery of another body.
This twisted killer wants revenge, and he won’t stop until the Ross family are in pieces…

Something is telling Josie that Lucy’s parents aren’t giving her the whole truth, but digging deeper into their lives will force her to confront a life-changing secret of her own.
Does Josie have what it takes to crack this case? She has no choice if she’s going to bring Lucy home alive…

An absolutely unputdownable new crime thriller from an Amazon, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author. Readers who love Robert Dugoni, Angela Marsons and Rachel Caine will be hooked until the final, jaw-dropping page.

I really enjoy the Detective Josie Quinn series. This was my favorite, so far. The case starts right away and the story takes off in a perplexing thriller of finding a kidnapped child.

Over the series the characters have become so familiar. It is enjoyable to follow their lives. The cases are intriguing and the hunt for the criminals is always fascinating. This is one of those series that I can read over and over.

Her Silent Cry was a pulse pounding thriller. As the case progressed it became more clear how sinister and twisted the kidnapper was, and there is no reasoning with a madman. As layers are pulled back nothing is what it seems. It is an intense mystery that is very hard to put down. I highly recommend this book, and the series. I look forward to many more Josie Quinn books!

I have grown to really like Josie throughout the series. You can trust her with your life, even though she’s still marred by her horrible past. Her character, as the others have really developed into likable people. This book was very clever, the kidnapping, the victims and the twists. A bit slow in the beginning, it was a great read once it picked up. You really have to pay attention to the chapters as they flip between past and present. Love the fact the series is not brutally sexual or explicit. I definitely recommend the book.

Her Silent Cry is another exciting Detective Josie Quinn mystery thriller. It has all the elements of Lisa's writing that we enjoy, especially her character development. A great read.

    ## Wow. I don't usually read books this long simp!y because I find that they become boring or they deviate too far from the main crime. Not so here. The entire book focuses on Lucy's disappearance. We the readers get to follow all the clues right along with the FBI and the local police. The characters as well as the story kept me interested and guessing throughout.

Let me also say that this is my first book by this author and even though it's part of a series, it stood alone just fine. Sure I could tell some things related to previous books, but the author was able to integrate that perfectly. At no time did I feel lost.

Another thing I can say is that there are no explicit sex scenes in this book. I don't really mind either way but I noticed by reviews that some people do mind that.

All in all, this was a fantastic read which kept me turning the pages late into the night.

By far my favorite book of the series! I didn’t think a book would be better then book 3, but Her Silent Cry is absolutely fantastic.
I have loved being able to watch the characters grow and change throughout the books but this book was all about the plot. Yes you saw some growth for the characters but the plot of this book is what hooks you.
This book has everything you want and need. It will hit on all your feeling. I actually shed a couple tears. Little Lucy will grab you from the start.
The whole story line of this book is amazing. It has you asking all the right questions. Where is Lucy? Who took her? How? Why? And then come some twists and they have you asking more Who and Why?

I've read all the Josie Quinn mysteries to date. While I've enjoyed them all, I have sometimes found that the constant focus on Josie's painful childhood a bit depressing. It's a well-written series, one that I feel most readers will enjoy. I simply would prefer that the author broaden the scope somewhat. Also, one must read the books in order to make any sense of all the convoluted ties to Josie's past. Still a good read.

This is a good series with many twists and turns. The author has improved with her plots and character development.

I adore Lisa Regan’s Josie Quinn series and have read each of them more than once. They are just completely engrossing.

This is one that reminds me of why I watch children in my care like a hawk when we are at playgrounds and why I cringe when caregivers are more engaged in their smartphones. In the blink of an eye, something can happen. And the way that this whole crime was carried out is quite devious. This book is one that haunts me every time I reread the series.

I do love the clues that are dropped along the way. They keep the story that much more intriguing. And the interwoven first person story from the mystery narrator is just as fascinating as you’re trying to figure out who it is and how it all ties together. And I think the results will pleasantly surprise you.

Josie also continues to grow as a person. You can see her soften more and more as her relationships grow with people like Noah, Misty, and Misty’s son. I love watching it happen.

Now, that being said, don’t feel like you absolutely must read all of the previous books first. This book absolutely works as a standalone. I just think everyone should read all of the books. And I do, repeatedly.

As always with this series, the pace was fast and furious. Not so fast that a person can't keep up, but fast enough that the reader is almost breathless at times. I enjoy the characters and story lines in this series. It's always a great ride.

This is a really good story, brutally good is the word I use to describe a character, it as you reading one page after another, thinking what is going to happen, very well wrote, one you cannot put down, so many twist & turns. Did not take me long to read it, now I am already to read the next one & the one after that. Read this and all the others , you will not be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping and Intense Thriller
Reviewed in India on May 2, 2020
This was my first book by Lisa Regan, and certainly would not regret having read this one although it is the sixth in the series. The plot is heart thumping from the very first few pages of the book and keeps the reader on the rim until the very end. The female protagonist is up in a cat and mouse game with the adversary who commits a series of egregious murder that is deep rooted in decades of dark secrets and lies. The characters are well riveted around the plot and an element of light romance adds to the mystery. The author has written most part of the plot from the protagonist view point where she tries to analyze the facts at her disposal and tries to be a step ahead in the game, but there are occasional passages at the beginning of some chapters that are written from a view point of an abused unidentified first person (child), that makes the reader wonder the relevance and relationship to the main plot. However, as the scheme gradually unfolds, one might begin to predict the two characters, but the author has brought a clever twist when the identity of the abused child is revealed. It really does not matter, if one has not read the previous books in the series featuring our protagonist, as the plot here is without any reference to any other previous books. A reading of the previous books will certainly help the reader understand the origin of various characters and how they dovetail both professionally and emotionally into subsequent books on the series. A definitely recommended read for suspense and thriller lovers.

Love Lisa Regan and her Josie Quinn and Noah characters...the way she writes her books is brilliant... you're reading the book but at the scene with her characters...and you get a real sense of the feelings of the characters too. Good plots, pacey page turning reading... Feel almost disappointed that I've completed the book. Definitely recommend Lisa's books. All are excellent reads... Thank you
