I own the ProTuff 16 foot telescoping model. It consists of two aluminium fluted poles. The interior pole is reinforced by the locking mechanism track inlaid through the length of action. The locking collar is a 2 button slide and lock style ring. The outer cover for the locking mechanism is made of a composite or plastic material. The pole seems powder coated, is is fluted for strength and rigidity, also heavier Guage (thicker wall) than most pool poles.
The ProTuff is sturdy even if fully extenand the locking Appears to be powder coated. It is a professional level piece of gear. The ROI is good but the price is higher than most or all others I found. But since over the last several year I have gone thru 3 poles that were marketed as strong... wrong...was a closer descriptioion. The ProTuff pole IS the quality that a professional or home user would be looking for when Ll others have failed them.. once a person uses it they are satisfied in the cost.
Cost to Benefit breakdown
1. Pole is made of thick Guage aluminum, having 2 x 8 foot sections with the locking collar in the middle connection. It can be heavy and cumbersome to use or some si ce it's heavy on its own not counting any accessories. It has a ne icnce the normal operation does not allow the poles to pull apart. But the height from deck upward can be a pain if working in tight spaces.
I only have 2 issues: one is the amount of bow in the pole when under a heavy
load. Whe you have a heavier load and the basket is full the pole can flex enough to be noticed. But the llo ing collar should be me of solid and
Milled stock like the broom adapter is. The pro tuff pole is for certain the strongest I have had or even seen in 30+ years. It can be a challenge picking out the best for the application and knowing what is best for the money all that other stuff.... This pole is what you need and have been looking for....stop looking. Buy it now and see for yourself... if you are not satisfied by the ProTuff Pole, maybe pool cleaning is not your call in life. :)

QUALITY item with great warranty service
I bought this pool pole about two years ago. This is the dirtiest item that you’ll find for pool equipment. We used it for two years with no issue. One day the pole got stuck inside of it and we couldn’t get it out. I filed a claim online in about two minutes and within four days there was a new pole here. The new pole is even better than the last, because it comes with adapters so you can use for painting or cleaning windows, etc. I will say I bought the 12 foot one, unfortunately, it doesn’t fit the middle of our deep end. I wanted to return it and pay extra for the 16 foot, but that wasn’t allowed. That’s my fault, nothing against them. I do recommend buying the 16 foot that way you’ll never have an issue. Great Service!

I purchased a house last year with a 26Gal inground pool with a liner and a sand filter. A pole was given to me and it was one that had a screw knob to tighten the extension so it would not slide or twist... It was very flimsy and the pole bent some every time I swept the pool. I was hesitant about this pole as it was costly and one of the reviews said it was heavy. Now, I tore my rotator cuff a few years ago and cannot afford surgery so, my shoulder is almost always aching. I do light exercises that help but I have to be careful when doing things because my arm is no longer tight in the socket. The old pole left my shoulder aching when I got done sweeping and I was concerned that this one, being heavy, would be worse. I received the pole today and put it to use... The pole, IMO, made it easier to sweep. It does not bend but very slightly and my shoulder does not hurt at all, after sweeping the pool.. It is much easier to extend out then the old one, much easier to slide back in, and makes sweeping the pool much easier. I am very glad I purchased it!!
Edit: I knocked off 2 stars as the second time I used the pole, a black piece came out of it. I contacted the company and they said it is a guide to help the pole extension to slide in and out easier.... All i have to do is buy some glue that is chlorine and water resistant and works with metal and plastic and I can glue it back in. For $150.00, I don't understand why the piece fell out to begin with... I have a UV system on my pool so I keep the chlorine at 1PPM or less. so, i cannot see the chlorine causing a problem. I examined the black piece and there is a very small residue of glue left on it.
Update again: I received another email from the company with an apology for the problem I have with the pole and the misunderstanding I had in the email they sent. The email was to inform me of how to fix the problem, not to accuse me to breaking it.. they also send me compensation for the defected part so I can fix it.
I understand how things happen and am glad they stepped up to make it right.. It doesn't make sense to me to send them the pole back for a replacement for something as minor as this part coming out. I will definitely be doing business with them again.
