I don't usually write reviews for the items I purchase, but I had for this pen. I didn't expect much by buying less than $10 fountain pen, but this product exceeded my expectations! It came in nice case with a polishing cloth. It feels sturdy and heavy, like an expensive fountain pen. Cartridge installation was extremely easy (there is an extra piece that will allow you to use regular ink as well). If you want elegant and inexpensive gift, this is your best bet. I know I will be enjoying writing with my pen for a really long time :)

    I left a frustrated review due to the fact that this pen came to me dirty with an almost empty cartridge attached. There was no converter, which is how I ink my pens. However, this pen is AMAZING!
    It is beautiful and writes better than many very expensive, high-end pen costing hundreds of dollars! It is heavy, made of metal rather than plastic. Not too heavy, though. It is a very satisfying weight in my smallish hands. I worried that the white color would look cheap but it is a luminous , pearly white that looks luxurious. The cap does not post but if it did, I think it would throw off the balance so I am ok with that. It is a "medium" nib, but this lays down a smooth, wet line that would be considered Bold or extra-bold in most Japanese pens. Fun tip: if you prefer a smoother line, you can flip this pen over and write with a fine line from the under-side of the nib!
    This pen is worth the price by about 10 times over! (So I am ok with it arriving used and without the converter! No way am I returning this beauty!!!)

    Giving 4 stars right now, based on first impressions. I got these (the 4 "dark colors" pens) and immediately took the nibs and feeds out for a wash, then inked them up. These pens look nice - the colors I got were a brushed steel, matte black, dark red with some subtle gold swirls, and that last one is Shimmering Sands, the black with holographic glitter. These are Jinhao, and marked as such, even though the listing and little bags they come in say "Gullor". They have some weight to them, and feel solid. The caps won't post on mine, but that's fine for me, as I think they'd be a bit back-heavy if they did.
    I put a standard international short cartridge in the Shimmering Sands one, as I'll probably take it to work and leave it there. It took a couple minutes of writing for it to really get in the groove (the first few words looked like an extra-fine, not a medium) but after a few minutes it is writing just fine. The nib is nice and smooth (not quite as nice as my Lamys, but way better than I expected).
    I used the included converters with the other three pens. I made sure they were pushed in securely before using them, and all three worked fine. I put Noodler's Air Corp Blue-Black in the silver pen. It's not quite as smooth as the Shimmering Sands, but isn't scratchy. I did find once when I opened the cap some ink flew out and left spots everywhere, so I'd say be careful when opening these pens. The red pen got Diamine Oxblood, and is similarly

    Solid construction, beautiful design, and the included converter feels solid and fills effortlessly. The nib was perfectly seated on arrival (sometimes they shift in shipping) and writes perfectly without skipping or blobs. It has triangular grips which are perfectly aligned out of the box, with a bit of rubbery texture.

    There are only two things I didnt like. It has a pull off cap, which is tight new and can cause a bit of spatter when it finally pops off. Also, the included converter is not the same as a international generic, such as my Kaweco converters. So you cant easily replace the converter when it gets stained.

    Five years ago I purchased a Jinhao Calligraphy Pen with a medium nib. I was pleasantly surprised by the smooth writing and nice, even ink flow. However, after 5 years the nib holder fell out of the barrel when I attempted to refill the reservoir.

    Obviously, for $5 to $12 I don't expect a pen of this price to last a lifetime. But it should not fall apart and the new one that I just purchased should function better. I am returning the pen immediately for a refund.

    I was very disappointed in this product. The casing is lovely, but difficult to hold if you have smaller fingers than a man...cumbersome would adequately describe the hold. The nib is actually wide, not medium and if you hesitate for even a moment, it will blotch ink. I had bought this pen with the expectation of using it to draw over watercolor, as well as, to write, but now fear that it would only ruin anything I am working on. I would have sent it back, but I did use it for an evening trying to get a better feel and to see if there was some way I could figure out how to execute what I had been after. Sadly, I did not so it will just sit looking pretty, but unusable.
