That special recipe of blues and rock from Memphis never sounded better! Anthony Corder, Keith Douglas, John Patterson & Patrick Francis still making Tennessee proud as hell with this new release. Huge fan of this band since Surprise Attack. Unfortunately, the band fell victim to the 90's wave of music and record companies wanting nothing but grunge bands on a label, but these guys kept their roots in tact and never sold out! The band weathered the storm, resurfaced, and 25 years or so later sound every bit of the band they were in 1989. Anthony Corder's distinct bluesy vocals are timeless. THANK YOU FRONTIERS MUSIC FOR SIGNING THESE GUYS! Notables on this album include Silence of the Sirens, a rock n' roll groove from the outset to the end. Let Us Be One fires on all cylinders, has a solid message of the power of kindness making this world a better place. Son of a Prodigal Son is the wisdom of life and leaning on the good Lord for strength. Rose of Jericho and Bastards of Beale are winks and nods and a firm salute to the people of the Mississippi delta and downtown Memphis. Great riffs and percussion on the title song. This is an excellent stand alone album for those not familiar with Tora Tora but as a fan it's the missing piece we've been longing for!

Pretty good album. Great musicians. Leans heavily towards southern & classic rock style. Not like their early stuff at all, but still good. Instrument sound levels/mix a bit muffled and vocals a little louder (has a home studio vibe).

Unfortunately, Amazon sent me a used disc. I guess that's a potential risk with next day delivery. Someone out there at the California facility must have listened to it and then dropped it or used it as a coaster because there are a bunch of tiny scratches on the play side consistent with some jerk not taking care of a CD. I guess there were no new ones in stock and this one was there and just shrink-wrapped again. The photo didn't pick up all the scratches (which are in the dashed line area), but it does show a few (circled). Plays without skipping, though.
Still, come on, Amazon! I've sent back used or damaged stuff when I ordered new before from Amazon, but decided it wasn't worth my time to go through all that with this item. If it happens to another CD, I'll send them my bill. ;-)

Tora Tora did not disappoint! I love Bastards of Beale and Revolution Day too... Rock n Roll ain’t dead yet! Looking forward to catching a show or two in the near future.
