- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2019I remember when I initially got this video back in 1991, I wasn't crazy about it. It was the first video where Jane stepped aside for the full aerobics section - she would lead the floor exercises only. I liked Jeanne and Laurel from the earlier Complete Workout and Lean Routine videos, but I didn't dig it. The aerobics was okay - I preferred some more challenging videos from the earlier years.
Fast forward to today - I have a new appreciation for this video. It offers a moderate step workout with the option to do the aerobics all on the floor. The step routine is easy to follow and well-cued. I would say it is best for newcomers or intermediate step exercisers. Advanced users can, of course, bump up the step height but may still find the moves a bit basic. What's great for those who are not using a step is that you're not reliant on a solo participant to follow - half the class is using the step and half are not. So you're not missing out by using or not using it. Good stretching segments precede and end the aerobics. The floor work with Jane is extensive and covers the legs and stomach well.
I recommend this video to anyone looking for a good combination of lower body toning and cardio. I would also suggest this to those considering adding the step, or resuming step aerobics after a long break, to work your way up.

This one is a particular favorite of mine and so happy the released it on DVD. The ab workout is fantastic and if you don't feel it the next day then I commend you because no matter how often I do it, I am definitely sore the next day. I have pretty much all of her workouts and switch them around and have lost over 37 pounds and with her Workout with Weights video have really toned my body and this workout has also contributed to toning my lower body. Her constant focus on form and variety of movements is never boring and she always has different people doing different levels on each side of the room so you can focus on the people who are advanced or beginners. It is really great and she is so motivational throughout the workout. But again her focus on doing it right is the most important thing to me as you can really hurt yourself if you don't. I really recommend getting this workout and her total body workout as well to start out and I promise, you will be hooked.

I owned her “Jane Fonda challenge workout” on VHS for over 25 years till it eventually broke!! This tape (that I am reviewing) is AWESOME!! I have not tried the Cardio section- (which I’m sure is great) but I just finished the 25 minute floor work for the lower body & abs - WAS GREAT! I especially like how she targeted the inner and outer thighs- I used 1.5 lb ankle weights which was perfect to make the workout more challenging and effective. She also suggested using ankle weights- but if you are a beginner then do not use them. EVERYTHING JANE FONDA IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!! SHE IS THE BOMB!!👍

I’m not a person who particularly like exercise, and I do this almost everyday because its fun, motivating, and entertaining. All her videos are great but this is my favorite. I sweat so much and I love that this video along with the step circuit gives room to improve as you learn the steps. Great music and outfits!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2021I loved this workout in 1991 after having my first child. I even did it with that child as she grew older. We both loved it. As VHS faded, I would search for it on DVD with no luck. I was so excited to find it on Amazon!
It is the exact thing as the original VHS, just better quality! Would definitely recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2022I loved Jane Fonda's step aerobic workout, it gave me a good workout without killing me and being hard on my joints and my sore feet. I used this workout until my VCR couldn't play the tape anymore. Because I couldn't find the step aerobic workout on DVD the Lower Body Solution is a very close second. It implements some step moves - which I like and has some similarities in the routine to the step aerobic so my first run through I wasn't spending a lot of time trying to learn the choreography. There was some hopping around that my feet and knees didn't particularly like, but I just implemented some step movements (like 3 knee repeaters and such) in order to keep my heartrate up and make the cardio worth it.
Really, there are only two complaints, 1- the music drowns out the instructors, I would need to blast it so I can hear the instructors. Once I learn the routine this is not a big deal as I don't need to hear them, but learning the routine makes it difficult if you can't hear them over the music. 2- A lot of floor hops, I am not a bunny and do not like hopping. Though if you don't care about hopping about you wont have a problem here.
Now, to the lower body sculpting...lets just say feel the burn today and for at least 2 days after. I could hardly go up and down the stairs or sit down because I was so sore - I say this was an effective routine. It was not too strenuous and it will keep my attention for a while as it was not boring.

I love this workout. Various fitness levels and even the inclusion of a step bench. Good for healthy weight loss. The cardio workout is about 35 minutes then floor excercises for the lower body.
