Editorial Reviews
A disorientating journey through Kevin Starrs' (aka Uncle Acid) wonkiest dreams, Wasteland glides majestically from punchy and direct psych-rock anthems like "I See Through You" and "Shockwave City" to the viscous, somnambulant ooze of the eight-minute "No Return" and the twinkly-eyed bad trip of the album's mesmerizing title track. Recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound studio in Los Angeles, Wasteland boasts the kind of irresistibly raw and exuberant sound that only the greatest bands can generate.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2018Uncle Acid never disappoint with any of their releases and that trend keeps up with "Wasteland". This album keeps up with the theme of previous albums in that it is a deep psychedelic homage to the metal/hard rock of the late 60s and early 70s. Its definitely heavier and less poppy then their previous release "Night Creeper" and has a more "Bloodlust" feel to it. But comparisons are kind of hard since Uncle Acid albums are all pretty unique and great in their own ways. This album definitely has almost a dystopian and apocalyptic feel to it. In closing this album is great (like all of their releases) and should be listened to by anyone who likes their previous work or anyone who is a fan of Psychedelic Metal. Personal favorite track is the awesome "Stranger Tonight".
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2018Blood Lust and Night Creeper were great albums. that had more similarities than difference. Mind Control being the one album that stood more different than the same - but was also the weakest of the three, by far.
So when I heard they were going for a more Vol. 1 sound - more bouncy punk, more garage, with more melody and taking on a sci-fi dystopian concept, I was really wary. Uncle Acid, in my mind, was becoming a band that couldn't pivot out of the corner they had painted themselves into - one that evoked images of grindhouse flicks, the occult, and such. A Rob Zombie for the stoner age.
But, they did it. And successfully.
Highlight tracks: I See Through You, Shockwave City, No Return, Stranger Tonight, and Bedouin.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2020This would be 5 starts but side 2 of the vinyl pressing really would sound better without the lo fi retro mix. Songs are better than the pressing shows. Packaging is great. as always, with Rise Above Records.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2018Another great album from the Master. They head down the Iron Maiden path a little on this one, and every cut bleeds. The title track Wasteland is worth the price of the album alone!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2019Not as good as Bloodlust, but there aren't many CDs as good as Bloodlust.
On par with the Night Creeper.
A great set of songs by a great band.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2019All their albums are good but this one seems even better. It's dark and malevolent but always sounds so great. Very addictive album.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2018I thought some of the more recent releases were getting weaker from the first awesome Blood Lust. But, wow, I am impressed with this release. All hail Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats.

5.0 out of 5 stars The winning streak continues
Starr and company start to seem too perfect . All within the confines of a style defined since Mind Control, the expansion into the heavy (Shockwave City), the rooty acknoledgement (Blood Runner), and the epic (Bedouin) must be experienced at a decent volume. Alone. Forget the headphones and let the sound swallow you whole at home.

5.0 out of 5 stars The closest you cant get to black sabbath without actually being black sabbath
I thought this was a great album from a band who have continually put out great albums, though saying that, this is basically a continuation of their previous albums, but when they have a back catalogue as they do that is not necessarily a bad thing. Just don't expect anything too different.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alles beim Alten?
Black Sabbaths "Born Again" klingt deutlich schlimmer.
Fazit: Eine etwas ungewöhnliche, bisweilen mutige, aber ziemlich grandiose neue Scheibe aus dem Hause UNCLE ACID AND THE DEADBEATS!
