- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2019Just what my husband was looking for, loves the old war movies, this hit the spot for him!!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2018Bad CGI aside, the script borrowed from I don't know how many other movies for me to give it more than one star. I noticed lines swiped from Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan and several other movies. My teenage daughter started watching it after I left the TV on despite having given up on this movie. I heard her laughing downstairs during an intense battle scene. She said the Germans should be ashamed of themselves because they couldn't hit anything but trees during the firefights in the movie. She was also amazed to see Tom Berenger (whom she recognized as the scarred Staff Sergeant in Platoon) in this movie. I told her that he was about 25 years older than many real life battalion commanders during WW2 where it was not odd to have a 32 year old commanding a rifle battalion in the US Army. So much potential wasted on a bad script. Rented it out of curiosity. Don't recommend anyone buying it.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2019I am a movie nitpicker on accuracy. The makers of this movie did a very good job on uniforms, weapons and armor.
I notice that much of the criticism of this movie is about the special effects and story. I didn't find the special effects that bad but I was unhappy with the ending. The writers had me involved and it ends! Is there a part two coming out? What I saw, I enjoyed.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2020I love the movie
- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2022I watched it because I enjoy WW2 history. Other reviewers have hit on the obvious flaws. To me, the leading man was not a good actor. He seemed to be reading his lines off of a cue card, especially at the beginning and the writing was not creative or at places realistic. But they got a lot right. The surprise attack by the huge German force. The snow (though of course there was tons more than portrayed). The fascination the director had with closeups of branches and tree trunks and leaves seemed strange and after awhile seemed like too much of a boring repeat of the same concept. I didn't get it at the beginning where the guy basically begs to go to the front line then gives an entirely opposite story to his fellow officer about being desperate for a rest break from combat. It seemed incongruous. I looked carefully at the uniforms and equipment. They seemed too new and perfect. I almost cheered when I saw a button that had broken off on a sleeve! I do appreciate the ending despite its abruptness. It highlighted the massacre at Malmedy, not an insignificant factor in raising the anger and stiffening the resolve of the American defenders in the rest of the battle.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2019I was an extra in it.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2024Bad acting, no plot, snow on the ground, then no snow, then snow. half track scene, should have been dead bodies all over the ground, disappeared, dont waist your time
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2018This is no Band of Brothers but the uniforms and weapons used are accurate for both sides. The CGI is pretty bad and the filming location isn't to bad for the setting of the battle. The story line is a little jumpy but overall a good movie from a small studio.

1.0 out of 5 stars Out-flank this movie
This is bad - real bad.
A wunderful cornucopia of German uniforms, but no plot, no real narrative and no points for originality.
Just cliche after cliche after cliche.
If Amazon would issue refunds on DVDs, I'd gladly go that route. Unfortunately, I watched some of it.
At a little over an hour into the show, the serjeant says, "You know what? I've been having second thoughts about this entire war, so stop your bitching."
Argh.
At that point I pressed STOP on the BluRay player. Not even Tom Berenger's semi-appearance could persuade me to continue.
