    The "Splendid Splinter," Ted Williams may well have been the greatest hitter in baseball history. Think about this. Ted missed five of his most productive, prime years of baseball to World War II and the Korean War, yet he hit 521 home runs in his shortened career. He surely would have given the great Babe Ruth a run for his money and may possibly have broken the Bambino's 714 home run record if he had been available to play those lost years. This documentary not only shows some great baseball footage, but it also gives viewers a glimpse of the man behind the legend. PBS's American Masters almost always does a top notch job profiling its subjects, and this one is no exception. If you have any interest in Ted Williams, check this video out!
