About the author
Amr Abdelgawad, MD is an attending orthopedic (consultant) surgeon in Maimonides Medical Center. Before working in Maimonides, Dr Abdelgawad was an associate professor and the chairman of the Orthopedic Surgery Department in Texas Tech University Health Science Center in El Paso, Texas. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. He received his medical degree, Master and PhD in Orthpaedic Surgery from Ain Shams University in Cairo. He obtained MBA (with concentration in healthcare management) degree from Walden University (in October 2017). Dr Abdelgawad is a fellowship trained in pediatric orthopedic, orthopedic trauma and limb lengthening and reconstruction. He is member in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgerons (AAOS), Orthopedic Trauma Association (OTA) and Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America (POSNA).
Dr Amr Abdelgawad is the main editor of the book "Pediatric Orthopedic, handbook for primary care physicians”, a very successful handbook used by primary care physicians, nurses, therapist and medical students. He is the author of the book “The Guide to Pass The Final Orthopedic Exam: A Concise Review For Orthopedic Board Exam”, an outstanding text book used by many residents in their study for the orthopedic board. His channel (pediatric orthopedic) is the most popular pediatric orthopedic on YouTube with more than 10,000 subscriber and 1.2M hits. This channel gets positive review from all over the world.
Dr Abdelgawad wrote more than 110 papers and book chapters. His work had been cited more than 920 times. Dr Abdelgawad described new technique for treatment of Blount’s disease, a new method for intra medullary nail extraction, a new technique for obtaining bone graft, a new technique for fixation of calcaneal tuberosity fracture and a new method of fixation for pediatric distal femur fractures. Dr Abdelgawad has three patents for orthopedic devices.
