- Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2024Diabetes has a large learning curve and this book breaks down all the things you need to learn into nice small chunks. I read a chapter a day so it was quite manageable. Having some knowledge under your belt can help you feel less overwhelmed and more in charge so this is a great tool. I also listened to a diabetes podcast so the information was being reinforced and if you like podcasts then try it out.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2024Friend recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, was feeling overwhelmed. found this book very helpful in increasing knowledge and excluding inaccurate information from others
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2025This book has a lot of information for the newbie to diabetes. It covers insulin diet, and gives pointers for doctors visits. It contains a lot of information, but the type is so small. I had trouble reading it. My solution was to buy this book in Kindle form. I can adjust the size of the print and highlighting and book barking are easy. I gave it four stars because it’s a good book but in retrospect I wish I had only bought this book in Kindle format. That is my rook recommendation in Kindle form.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2024It is good for basic diabetic information. I leaned a lot. It was well-written and easy to understand.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2024I've had this dreaded diabetes for a long time now and this is my first time trying to educate myself about it. This book is an excellent tool and is very user friendly.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2022Recently diagnosed and frankly knew almost nothing about type 2 diabetes. I ordered this book based on a recommendation of one of my wife's friends.
Like all "dummies" books, the writing style is simple and direct. A very broad range of topics are covered and the writer maintains a positive outlook throughout.
After my first read of the book, (I will no doubt read it again), I felt that it was basically a Weight-Watcher's approach (i.e. No food is denied, but portion size must be monitored).
While a good primer, I felt that it falls short on specific recommendations such a a sample menu for, say, a week. That would have been very useful.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2024Recently Dx with diabetes. The book is very helpful and informative.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2023I was recently diagnosed as prediabetic. This book uses simple, easy to understand language (no medical terms) and really made sense to me. Good practical advice and am very happy with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars easy to understand
A good book for info. My only complaint is a good portion of the book is about how to navigate your health insurance plans with this disease. As a canadian this is not something that concerned me . Still a good book.
