Going through some tough trials at present. God is pruning me and my family again and I simply feel ugly and forlorn....even though I know strength and character shall result from the trials we are going through, it feels like no one else would feel as bad as us nor understand the heavy burdens to bear....BUT....the lyrics from this entire album spoke to me so clearly....someone was singing about my own feelings/thoughts/wishes....we are truely not alone in this world....God speaks through others and has done so awesomely through this album! I printed out the lyrics of some of the songs and sent them to needy family members so they too can be comforted and supported, so they too could give the Glory to God where it belongs.....He carries us until we can walk with triumph in our step again!

Over the last few years, I Am They have put out some great inspired music, but sadly, I don't think most people know about them. Despite weathering many storms the last few years, they are still standing tall! This new album shows their resolve and passion for what they do. I am very impressed with this new slate of songs!

This is an amazingly well produced album with top notch performances by vocalists and instrumentalists. I saw the earlier review criticising the project because it's not like their previous release - however that album is over 3 years old and the band has switched out two members since then, and the new project has a different producer. "Trial & Triumph" is its own work and stands on its own. AND.... It's a triumph! (Couldn't resist.) 😁

While this doesn't sound exactly like their previous CD, it still is a great one with every song worth listening too. It also has a lot of variety in the songs that makes it quite refreshing to listen too. Enjoy.

One of the greatest bands out there! Great songs. The lyrics are very deep, and the new lead singer can really hold her own!

I loved their self-titled album. The home-grown, roots-styled folk-rock was a breath of fresh air in the stagnant radio-friendly Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) genre. With the folk-rock vibe gaining huge popularity in the secular music world (Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men, etc) it was great to see a band bring that same “stomp-and-holler“ sound to the Christian music industry (its worth mentioning that they weren’t exclusive in doing so, as Rend Collective, Crowder, All Sons and Daughters, and Needtobreathe all bring a similar level of folk-rock to the Christian music industry)
Unfortunately for I Am They, that sound only lasted one album, as Trial and Triumph takes a sharp turn into a much more polished, radio-friendly CCM vibe. On the few tracks where they attempt their old-styled folk vibe, it comes off sounding far more in line with modern country music than it does rootsy folk. The remaining songs (and majority of the album) falls in line with all the other currently popular Christian Radio stars (Francesca Battistelli, Chris Tomlin, Lauren Daigle, Casting Crowns, etc)
That being said, I Am They still does it well. Very well.
Although it’s not the sound I fell in love with and wanted to hear again, it is still very well written and preformed. “Crown Him” could (and should) very easily become a top-ranked Worship song on Christian airwaves. “The Water (Meant for Me)” featuring David Leonard (formerly of All Sons and Daughters) is a beautifully written song that sounds as though it was originally meant for an All Sons and Daughters album but ended up on I Am They’s.
The album does lack a bit in the closing songs (with Crown Him being the exception), and seems to lose all momentum and energy that was present in the first half of the album. I find myself bored with the final two songs, and skipping ahead to make the album start over at 1.
If you go into this album expecting and hoping to hear the same sound and style as their first album, you’ll be sorely disappointed. However, if you go into this album with the understanding that this is virtually a new band (they’ve replaced two vocalists since their self-titled album) with a new sound, I think you’ll find that it can compete with today’s popular CCM giants.

    5.0 out of 5 stars レディ・アンテベラム風のCCM
Reviewed in Japan on June 24, 2020
My Feet Are on the Rockのアビー・パーカー嬢のパワフルな声がなんともいいです。
