Product Description

Unique 2 in 1 formula contains both live coralline algae spores and active nitrifying bacteria. Purple Helix, Coralline Algae in a bottle is the ONLY product developed in a laboratory containing actual live algae spores. Other similar products are simply a mixture of calcium and magnesium, both of which are already contained in all salt mixes, and are rarely ever lacking in a newly setup aquarium. Coralline Algae in a Bottle is available only online. You won't find it on the shelves of big chain stores because it is a live product and is best used within 14 days. Every bottle includes a minimum of 7 separate species of coralline, this maximizes the color variations and varieties that will populate throughout your tank. Will also aid in establishing your tanks biological filtration, again with providing fresh living bacteria. Most marine bacteria will not survive without oxygen and an energy source sitting on a shelf for a year, most species can last only a matter of a few weeks. Our Purple Helix blend algae strains are highly epiphytic stains that will help to outcompete other nuisance algae and diatoms. Effective in improving water quality by controlling ammonia and nitrite levels. Use when setting up a new aquarium, when adding new rock or substrate to your tank, and to boost the color and diversity of existing live rock in an already established aquarium. Reef safe for all marine fish and corals. 100% all natural formula. Every bottle is bottled fresh on the date that it ships. For Saltwater Use Only. 1 Bottle Treats up to 50 Gallons. Developed and manufactured by ARC, a licensed aquaculture laboratory permitted and licensed under the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Department of Agriculture, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. 1 Bottle per each 50 gallons of tank volume (including sump) is needed for best results.

update: 9 months later... Just got it today... will follow up in a month
Update (5/15/2019) - I did not see any significant coralline algae growth in the months that followed putting this in my tank. I had several other issues with my tank during the last few months, including a crazy angel hair algae bloom so I'm not certain that my lack of progress was the fault of the product. This week I noticed a few new coralline algae growth on the back of my tank - but its been 9 months so I don't know...=========================Just got this today (8/20/2018). I added 3 bottles of the product to my 150 gallon display tank with the uv and sump turned off. I will turn the sump back on in a few hours and leave the uv turned off for a few days. I followed the instructions exactly - including rinsing out the bottles with aquarium water 3 times - dumping all of the contents into the tank.I've attached the 'before' picture and will include an after picture in a month. If I haven't updated this feedback by 9/20/2018 - feel free to comment as a reminder. :)

WOW is all I can say! It's been several years since I set up a saltwater tank. I knew that it was important to start a tank with a good base of bacteria in order to accelerate the cycling of the tank. Rather than just sitting back and waiting for the process to slowly complete, I did a little research and stumbled upon this product... and I am SOOOOO GLAD that I did! The nitrifying bacteria helped accelerate the cycling process in a big way. I expected to wait a month before the tank would cycle but it completed within just a couple of weeks. Not only that, but there is CORALLINE ALGAE already growing on my rocks! Light pink, dark pink/red, bright green... I'm really impressed with how well my tank is thriving so early on. I visited a friend yesterday whose tank has been running for over a year with Kessell lights and an impressive sump/refugium. My tank is much simpler and is showing more coralline growth than theirs is! From prior experience with salt tanks, I KNOW this is not just a coincidence. I will definitely use ARC Reef's Coralline Algae in a bottle for all future tank setups. Can't wait to see what other products they produce, I'm a fan for life!

As others have said, it takes a few months to see results. I had a 29 gallon tank for over a year and had barely any coralline algae growth. I moved to a 75 and bought a bottle of this. I put it in right after I got everything moved over, even though the instructions said to wait until the tank has been established. 3 months later, I was scraping hard purple coralline algae off my glass. It was on the glass, the rock, the overflow box, even the sand! I put a light in my sump for my chaeto to live there, and now it's on my pump down there, and even the heaters. Growth has slowed down since that crazy bloom, but it's still growing strong as steady, and I still have to scrape it off my glass. I have 2 shades of purple and one pink. Very pretty. I'm very happy with this product.

Ordered March 9th, added to my established cycled tank with perfect levels of 0 tds rodi water. I think this product is a modern day elixer hit or miss scam because I never saw any growth after adding product after a water change, turned off skimmer for 2 days, added kent essentials at same time and weekly afterwards, my levels are always 0, 1.27/ 35% salinity and 8.2 ph and everything else in range established with sufficient lighting, good flow and adequate filtration BUT it's July and no growth of any kind of Coralline BUT I did have that wanderful cyano growth afterwardsand still fighting to eliminate. Now if the elixer worked the Coralline would overpower the cyano i received and I wouldnt have to complain. I was thinking maybe I received a poor batch and considered buying another bottle but I can't risk more Cyano even though my urchin and starfish are happy. My levels continue to test 0 and lights are only on 6 hours. Yes I know there has to be nitrates for cyano to thrive and it can give off false o readings but it was 0 before product and didn't have cyano until after product introduced. I have managed to almost eliminate it but it has taken time and alot of effort in cleaning and water changes and vodka dosing. Well at least if I take a shot I'm not drinking alone. I've had to resort to turning my fish into alcoholics to finally see a cyano clear tank again(they all seem happier together lol).

I already had some coralline on my rocks, I bought this for the different strains. I'm already seeing some new shades of purple coming in after a week. I was a little worried about my clean up crew wiping it out before it had a chance to establish so I set up a half gallon with heat/light and a sponge filter, threw a small rock in and poured some of the bottle in. This step wasn't needed, but I'm leaving the rock in for a while just to see what happens. Love this stuff! This is not an algae booster, this is actually algae. Awesome product, can't recommend enough. In the photo you can see my established algae and the new lighter shade of purple in the center from this product.

Put it in while cycling my tank and nothing grew, no spots, nothing. If you like playing the lotto then this product is for you. I guess this is how this works you give them 25 bux and see if anything happens, if nothing happens it would be 2 months later i usually do not complain but this was 25 dollars after waiting to see if it works. followed instructions to a "T" and saw no results. I am beyond upset that i got bambozzled by the reviewers saying it works when it i guess is about luck....

***Update after venting my frustrations to the seller, the seller quickly gave me a refund. that is the reason i bumped up the stars up. the company is willing to stand behind it. So I would recommend from that standpoint. i recently started another tank so i decided to give it another try. will update after a month.

2 bottles, each at different times, I see very little coralline growth anywhere...the growth I do see, I dont know if I can attribute that to the CA that was already resident in my DT, or from the product. I wont buy again.

So it’s May 21st and the bottle was added April 3rd. I knew it would take time as I used dead rock for the tank.
Let me say tat the tank was started the middle of February and I wasn’t checking my water except for nitrite, nitrate and phosphate.
Beginning in May I started to test for alkalinity, calcium and magnesium, and dose to get to what ARC recommends for the correct levels. Now I have the “chicken pox” they say I should be getting.
I only have fish currently so I’mdosing Red Sea Marine Care KH Coralline Gro. It has spurred on the growth and kept the alkalinity in the tank between 9-10dKH.
I’m seeing pink, purple, red and green coralline growth.
I can only hope it spreads on the rocks and then I’ll add the planned corals.
