I liked the variaty of the performing artists. I was not familiar with most of these great musicians, and I apreciate the opportunity to be introduced to their music.

This is an important collection that exposes the roots and the contribution these blues musicians have had on the development of rock and country music through the 20th and into the 21st-century

If you have even had an inkling that you might like the sound of Delta blues, this album is a no-brainer. And it will make you seek out more of really good stuff; this is only a sampler. If you haven’t, well, I’m sorry. But get it anyway.

This a great compilation of blues from the 40s, 50s and 60s which includes 'stars' like Big Bill Broonzy and Memphis Slim, lesser-known players like Short Stuff MacOn and Scott Dunbar, and as well as down-home country blues by the likes of Son House and Big Joe Williams, we also get early Chicago blues by Johnny Young and John Littlejohn. It's not just guitarists there are also great piano players - Roosevelt Sykes and Little Brother Montgomery, harmonica players Walter Horton and Doctor Ross and we also get the King of Zydeco Clifton Chenier, so there is lots of variety of sounds on offer here as we go from the suave sophistication of Big Bill Broonzy to the ragged but charming Big Joe Williams. Also, everything is beautifully recorded, we hear all the artists in perfect clarity but with the character intact - it doesn't sound too antiseptic and emasculated simply you couldn't ask for a better blues compilation and at this price it's a steal!

Very good, authentic blues. I wish there were a bit more variation and more
    rocking tunes.
