Editorial Reviews
Debut album from Paul McCartney. Apart from wife Linda's vocal contributions, McCartney performed the entire album by himself, playing every instrument. Including the monumental track “Maybe I’m Amazed”, the album held the number one position for three weeks on the US Billboard 200 chart and peaked at number 2 in Britain.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2024Vinyl plays perfect 0 skips, this album when it first came out was heavily HATED which is understandable because it’s such a different sound from the Beatles, more raw and unique for the time, in my opinion this album is phenomenal all tracks including the instrumentals all flow and fit together amazingly. Idk maybe I’m amazed or something……

- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2021I waited 20 years to listen to this, it was okay, but quite disappointing... What happened to Paul after the Beatles? Only a few good songs... Bitter and heartbreaking for me...
16 God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. 17 God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world. He sent his Son to save the world through him. John 3:16,17 NIRV
18 Whoever believes and has decided to trust in Him [as personal Savior and Lord] is not judged [for this one, there is no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation]; but the one who does not believe [and has decided to reject Him as personal Savior and Lord] is judged already [that one has been convicted and sentenced], because [b]he has not believed and trusted in the name of the [One and] only begotten Son of God [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, the One who alone can save him]. John 3:18 Amplified Bible
15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the Book of Life, he was hurled into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15 Amplified Bible
Revelation 20:15 Since everyone who goes before the great white throne is to be tried and sentenced for his deeds, and no one is sinless, the only way to escape condemnation and the “lake of fire” is to have one’s name in the “Book of Life” through authentic faith in Jesus as Lord (see Ps 69:28; Phil 4:3; Rev 3:5). Amplified Bible Study Notes
God bless you!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2021I was still in the Air Force when this first came out. Back then, I would buy a record by the Beatles and any of its members without the slightest idea of its content, assuming it would be great. George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" and John Lennon's "Plastic Ono Band" and Ring Starr's "Sentimental Journey" also appeared that year (1970), and they all delighted us Beatle die-hards. Taken together, I'd have to say that "McCartney" was the first and remains the best of the lot. In addition to the popular "Maybe I'm Amazed," many of the songs on this pre-Wings album were immediate classics, much the way the Beatles' so-called White Album presented a cornucopia of instant classics.
It's amazing how quickly Paul McCartney recorded and released this album—especially considering the overall quality of the music. He didn't have to deal with other musicians since he played everything, with wife Linda provided the backup vocals. They even did all of the album art together. It seems, too, that the music on McCartney's first few solo albums give us an idea of what the Beatles might have gotten up to if they hadn't split up in December 1970.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2024Excellent cd. Good seller
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2012I guess I'm not as captious as some, but I found these vinyl recordings to be superior to the original LP. Aye, getting the records out of the sleeves was a bit more difficult than usual but nothing that ruin my day or affect the rating I gave these LPs. Being a drummer, I listen for different sounds than others.
LP1: I found the brush work in "Singalong Junk" (and "Junk" itself) cutting through beautifully--as were the cymbals. The acoustic guitar was more apparent on the high end. Bass drum and bass guitar were more evident. Anytime Paul used the snare with the high, crisp sound always sounded better to me than the garbage-can snare sound. the standout songs here are still "Every Night," "Teddy Boy," and "Maybe I'm Amazed."
LP2: [Side A] Love the new harmonies on "Every Night." (Think I heard the same version on an Unplugged concert.] Hearing the whole version (even though an outtake) of "Suicide" was interesting. Glad to know there was more to the song than that little snippet at the end of "Valentine Day." I also enjoyed the vocal--and the reverb on the vocal--live version of "Maybe I'm Amazed."
[Side B] Still another version of "Maybe I'm Amazed." I don't know of a version of this song that doesn't sound excellent." Hot as Sun sure sounded different, but I guess McCartney can't play all the instruments during a live concert. "Oo You" becomes the outtake called Don't Cry Baby" (complete with the admonition of Paul to one of the children). It's also become an effective instrumental. Then there's Women Kind. Very funny but I can see the wisdom in leaving it off the original McCartney LP.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible album, beautiful reissue
An album that was unjustly maligned upon its original release in1970, this is a magnificent piece of indie rock years before indie rock was a thing. The spirit of experimentation is paramount in enjoying these fantastic album, there are great songs on here too, Every Night is a masterpiece and likely gets overlooked because Maybe I’m Amazed is on this album and is considered classic McCartney. This is an inspiring album made by a brilliant musician and songwriter, it was only years later it got the credit it deserved.
This reissue is of the highest quality, sounds amazing and the sleeve is beautiful

5.0 out of 5 stars Maravilloso primer trabajo post Beatles.
