LOVE IT! ❤️ Just Wish They Had Curtain Rods That Were More than 86 Inches — Needed 2 Rods To Get it to Fit All the Way Across!
I first got this Kenney Chelsea Ball Decorative Window Curtain Rod in September 2016. I had gotten these curtain rods, because my mom had a stroke in August, and even after she was discharged from the hospital, she was still having some difficulties, with balance, walking and other issues. So I became her primary caregiver, and at least initially, I had to be close at hand at almost all times, including sleeping nearby in case she needed help at night. But because of mobiity issues, not just from the stroke, but also from MS (multiple sclerosis) which she's had since the mid-80s, she's been sleeping on the main floor of the house for several years, in what was originally a family room, but has become pretty much her bedroom. That meant that, at least for awhile, I'd have to sleep & basically live on the main floor of the house in order to be close by at night if my mom needed me to help her go to the bathroom, or get some water, or whatever. But the problem is that there weren't that many places on the main floor that I could sleep.Aside from the family room (where my mom slept and there wasn't really room to put another bed or other furniture [like a sofa-bed or futon] for me to sleep on) there's a formal living room, a kitchen & breakfast nook, a half or 3/4 bath (because a linen closet in the adjacent laundry room was converted into a shower stall), a formal dining room, and a utility/laundry room that connects to an attached garage. The only room that I could conceivably sleep in on the main floor, was the formal dining room, because it was not being used as such & hadn't been in years — and instead had become more like like a den/study/library/sitting room, with a sofa (with a pull-out bed) and a TV, and eventually also a a Blu-ray player & VCR, a vintage 80s Nintendo NES console, a bookcase & cube storage holding more books as well as some DVDs & videos and certain other furniture like a padded, upholstered fabric swivel chair, a coffee table/cocktail table & other stuff. But the problem was that, back then, the former dining room-turned-den had little to NO privacy to be used as a bedroom as I needed to do. The dining room was connected to both the living room and the kitchen, and though there was a pocket/sliding door between the dining room & the kitchen, at that time, it was broken/always getting stuck, so it was left open with the door inside its pocket — and it was a COMPLETELY OPEN floor plan between the dining room & living room. Worse, because the living room has big windows facing the driveway & street in the SAME direction as the dining room (can kind of see the windows in some of my pics) and its on the main floor, it's not only possible, but its probably very easy for anyone who is walking on the street to be able look in and see the living room & dining room when the window blinds are open — which they usually are, to let in sunlight, since the rooms are otherwise usually too dark. Now, in my opinion, its not that big a deal if people are able to look in when its being used as a living room, or dining room or den. But since the dining room was going to be used as basically a bedroom for me, for the following several weeks, or months until my mom "got back on her feet" (literally & figuratively!) after the stroke, I didn't want people walking by outside being able to see me sleeping, or worse, changing clothes or whatever else. So I wanted a way to add some privacy, temporarily to/for the dining room, without doing any major construction to build a door. Which is why I got these Kenney Chelsea Ball Decorative Window Curtain Rods and Deconovo Room Darkening Thermal Insulated Blackout Grommet Curtains. At first, I got one of the 28 inch to 48 inch rods, for the entrance between the dining room & kitchen, and installed it, and was very happy with it. But I put off trying to decide what to do about the entrance between the dining room and living room, because that threshold was so wide. I think its something like 110 or 115 inches all the way across, wall-to-wall — and unfortunately, the longest rod available in this design was 86 inches which was about 40 inches or so smaller/shorter than what I needed. Yet, I REALLY LOVED the design of these curtain rods. So I didn't know what to do. Because I didn't want to get/use a different curtain rod, or have mismatched rods with one design over the entrance between the dining room & kitchen and another different design between the dining room & living room). But alas, there was no rod available with ths design/style that was long enough to span the entire length of the opening............or almost the entire length, because there's a thermostat control box on the edge of one of those walls, and on the edge (or corner) of the other wall, there's a HUGE planter pot that's difficult to move, that I didn't want the curtains to block. Instead, I either wanted to leave a litle gap between the curtain and the wall, or install the curtain rod in such a way that the curtain would just touch/brush right up against the big planter pot, without actually covering it (making the curtain look lumpy) and the thermostat could be accessed without needing to move the curtain and/or look into or actually enter the room — and that way, I could still have some privacy in what would essentially be my bedroom for the period of time that I was staying on the main floor of the house to take care of my mom. So eventually, I decided that since there was NOT a longer rod than 86 inches available for this design/style of curtain rod, and I LOVED this design so much, I'd have to just use 2 separate curtain rods, next to one another — and that's exactly what I did. After I finally made that decision, I got two of these Kenney Chelsea Ball Decorative Window Curtain Rods one in the 28 inch to 48 inch size and one in the 48 inch to 86 size. However, once I'd gotten them, and tried to install the hooks to hang up the rods & curtains, to my horror, I discovered that UNLIKE when I put up the curtain rod hooks above the entrance between the dining room & kitchen (which the hooks installed VERY easily, with just winding in the screws with my electric screw-driver) unfortunately there was some kind of metal behind the drywall above the entrance between the dining room & living room, and I was totally unable to install the curtain hooks, because I couldn't even get any holes drilled to put in the screws. At first I was discouraged, but then I got an idea of using "Command Hooks" temporarily, until I could either get a professional to install the curtain hooks, OR figure out some other alternative............and so far the "Command Hooks" has worked out pretty well. The only issue is that the hooks are mismatched (which is NOT what I want) since the "Command Hooks" are made of white plastic, and the curtain hooks over the other entrance are silver looking metal. Nevertheless, though the Command Hooks seem to be sturdy and are holding up, I recently got an idea of trying to take the strongest of the "Command Hooks" adhesive strips, and attach it to the curtain hooks matching the one between the dining room & kitchen. I haven't tried it yet, but I am planning to do so, it'd be perfect! In any case, I am very satisfied with these curtain rods. I ♡ the light silver color and the design, and I haven't had much problems with these rods. The only problems I've had, are with the Command Hooks initially not holding up, and collapsing/falling off the wall, with the curtain attached. But that was because I'd used hooks whose weight limit was not enough to support the curtain rods and curtain — and after I upgraded the hooks, I haven't had any problems with it since (though in one of the photos, I took the rod down to show more of the windows on the other side). Nor have I EVER had ANY problems with the curtain rod installed over the entrance between the dining room and kitchen, which was installed with the actual curtain hooks that were totally screwed into the wall. All in all, these Kenney Chelsea Ball Decorative Window Curtain Rods are GREAT. Like I've said, I wish that they offered a longer rod than 86 inches, but since they don't, I've made do.. But it'd be nice to replace the two separate rods with one complete rod. Other than that though, I am VERY happy with these curtain rods!★☆★☆★ 5 STARS!!!!

Other than that though, I am VERY happy with these curtain rods!

LOVE IT! ❤️ Just Wish They Had Curtain Rods That Were More than 86 Inches — Needed 2 Rods To Get it to Fit All the Way Across!

Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2018
But the problem is that there weren't that many places on the main floor that I could sleep.

Aside from the family room (where my mom slept and there wasn't really room to put another bed or other furniture [like a sofa-bed or futon] for me to sleep on) there's a formal living room, a kitchen & breakfast nook, a half or 3/4 bath (because a linen closet in the adjacent laundry room was converted into a shower stall), a formal dining room, and a utility/laundry room that connects to an attached garage.

Very easy to put up, feels sturdy, and looks good for the price point. The chrome finish is exactly as pictured. The ends don’t screw in, they’re just kind of plugged in with plastic.

I got this for my sons bedroom window. Easy install and it looks great. Feels solid also. It was exactly as described. When I redo my other kids rooms I will be getting more of these for their windows. We all agree it does the job well and looks good doing it.

Curtain rods can be so expensive! These are good quality without breaking the bank. They were easy to install- watching the video helped, and someone else commented that a 1/4 inch drill bit was needed to install with the anchors. If drilling straight into a stud, then a 1/8 drill bit would be used instead. I actually used a slightly smaller drill bit for a tighter fit on the anchor.

Just a tip to those who are not so handy (like me). I had a really hard time figuring out if I was installing where there were studs. Hypothetically, there should have been a window header, but I couldn't tell for sure. SO, I started with the smaller 1/8 drill bit to explore. On one window, I actually felt I was safe screwing straight into the wall with no anchors. Then, on the next window, I drilled my 1/8 hole and the wall felt like drilling through butter. So I went and got the bigger drill bit and drilled to install the anchors. The takeaway is: if you're unsure on whether or not you need the anchors, drill first with the smaller bit to assess. Safer to do that than to drill with the big one first and realize you need a smaller hole.

I purchased these curtain rods specifically to pair with this lovely drape (pictured, sorry the picture is sideways) for my daughter's room and highly recommend:

Perfect little curtain rod, it’s very subtle and does the job. The little ends are smaller than I thought but they look good! It easily adjusts and it fits perfectly into damage free curtain hooks because the rod is so thin. Very happy with it!

Rod is very solid and looks nice on the wall. The large knob ends make it look more expensive than it was and the rod supports allow for a wee bit of adjustment.
