- Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2021Mike Kovac is a Korean War combat photographer turned freelancer with a nose for trouble. All his adventures are relatable. Of none of them could you say, "That couldn't happen today." There would be some technical differences; a call from a burn phone instead of a phone booth, photos downloaded onto a computer instead of developed in a dark room and research done on the internet (although sometimes you still have to visit the newspaper morgue or the county clerks office.)
Charles Bronson is the perfect actor for Kovac because he can convey both tough enough to beat the hell out of you and soft enough to have a deep relationship with his father. There is plenty of action although not graphic even though some of the stories take a really grim turn.
This is a black and white series but the picture is good. There are quite a lot of good establishing shots but it was during the late 1950s so it is an historical look at America, plus a couple of other locals.
I don't like the fact that Mill Creek crammed one season into each disc. There are 15 (26 min.) episodes on disc one and 14 episodes on disc 2. That's over 7 hours on each disc. It would have been nice if they split it up into four discs.
But I'm still glad I got this! I just had to run each disc twice.
One other thing: there is no digital copy even if you get it new. The provider, movieSPREE, no longer has this title.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2018This is one heck of a very slick 50's TV drama/detective/action series! I have seen them all and this one is a real gem, to say the least. Charles Bronson is absolutely First Rate as an actor and a very likeable guy in this unusual, fast paced, very well written, exciting series. Musical background is excellent add adds much to the suspense as does the great stories and direction and fine performances of all the actors - many who became top stars both in TV and motion pictures. Such a shame it only lasted 2 seasons! Am starting the second season now and when it is over - I will have serious depression!......its that good. Think a guy with a camera is silly or couldn't be exciting - think again! Only other similar type series that compares is "Richard Diamond, Detective" with David Janssen, another great short lived series of the same time period. Also - Millcreek did an excellent job with the transfer of the original film to video/dvd.
Get your set now before they go out of print!! We all remembered Charles Bronson's face and other manly features, his very distinguishable voice, and in this series - his compassion for others and the pursuit of justice, all of which made him a star....We see him at his all time best here in this fine show.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2024Took me a while but I finally watched every episode and man, was it worth it! Bronson is terrific as Mike Kovac!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2024Saw mention of it in a vintage camera group. It's Bronson starring in a 50s tv series, so naturally I had to look it up. Price for this set was reasonable so I grabbed it. Only watched first 3 episodes so far, on our last weekend camping trip. TV reception is often spotty at rural campgrounds especially in bad weather or at night, and much of what's on antenna tv is shows/movies we've seen so many times anyways. I like to find cheap dvd sets of movies that are really really bad, or tv shows that are old, but new to us. Bronson traveling the world with his various cameras and defeating villains is perfect for the occasion. Have an entire week camp trip coming up so Charles Bronson is coming along with us for sure.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2021A great old show starring a young Charles Bronson and featuring many notable guest stars. I was going to get the updated release from MPI Home Video (5/11/21) instead of the Mill Creek Entertainment release that was already out there. I figured it would probably be a bit better quality. However, I noticed the run time on the Mill Creek release is 13 hours and 3 minutes. The run time on the MPI Home Video release is 12 hours and 34 minutes. So...that's quite a bit of extra footage if it is a fact. So, I got the Mill Creek release and am more than happy with it. Nice addition to my collection!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2018This very early effort from Charles Bronson is kind of a mixed bag. The show lasted two seasons, in the first season Bronson is a freelance photographer, and the shows were very good, different and interesting. But then in the second season, the emphasis became less of a photographer and more of a private eye/photographer. And pretty much ruined the show. Even Bronson looked uncomfortable in the role, and not surprised that the second season was the last. But the first season is almost worth the cost of the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2020I had ordered this on 11-19-2020 , received it on 12-5-2020 . Came sealed in a box w/2 other dvd's I had ordered too, sealed in a clear wrapping. Played it in my PC's dvd player , played perfect - ENJOYED all of the 29 episodes on the ( 2 ) disc -dvd set series. If your a Big Bronson fan like me - you will enjoy the series - this kind of series is a hard to find set - and worth the price in my view. I will buy in the future from this seller. 5 stars !! Happy Holidays !!!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2023This is early Charles Bronson, before he became a major star, but the series is well done and Bronson is good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic series
Great simple episodes, decent stories with modern blood and gore, proof that good stories are timeless and violence with graphic sex blood and gore are not needed to make a good show, timeless , Charles Bronson at his best

5.0 out of 5 stars Man with a Camera
I have never watched in earlier years this series, did not know about it. I am presently watching, very good and pleased that I purchased. I do know of Charles Bronson, of course, but not Man with a Camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars Man With A Camera
Here is another one of those classic TV Shows, where I never got to see all the episode. Nice to see Charles Bronson perform in an early TV Show.
