Be very aware of 3rd party games for the switch ...
Be very aware of 3rd party games for the switch that are priced 40 and 50 dollars they are just iPad apps that they ported to the switch. Those games are free on the AppStore or average price is 4.99 don’t get robbed.

I pre-ordered this from Amazon with high hopes. I knew I'd been had in the first 5 minutes. This game isn't much more than a crazy expensive cell phone game you could get from the app store for free. I really wanted to like this game since the racing genre was pretty thin at that time. I traded it in at Gamestop while I could still get a decent price for it soon after getting it. Even my 9 year old tried it once and never wanted to touch it again. It was recently $14.99 on the eShop. Even then it's about $15 too much. Steer clear. Pun intended.

Our grandson loves Monster Jam and goes to two Monster Jam rallies a year. He loved it.

Buggy game and not enough modes to keep players interested after 15 minutes. Trucks frequently fall through the ground and spiral into a blackhole until time runs out... you just sit there and watch it tumble. There's freestyle, the challenge being to trying and outscore your previous runs. Race, the computer, races are 10 seconds, tight turns in a short loop with buggy steering. And two other modes also lackluster.

First off, this is not a great game by any stretch of the imagination. The "races" are ridiculously short, the physics are mind-blowingly bad, and there is little direction in terms of what your objectives are in the given modes.

The main redeeming quality, however, is the fact that it is offiicially licensed by Monster Jam, and that's what's important to my 5 year old son. He's thrilled to be driving Grave Digger, Megaladon and his other favorie trucks (though he's disappointed by the lack of Higher Education). The lack of depth in gameplay, or clarity of what he's supposed to be doing doesn't bother him, and think that's important to note. It's a game he can pick up and enjoy just driving around doing wheelies and flips.

If you have a young child that enjoys monster trucks and won't be put off by shallow gameplay, then this is a decent purchase IF you get it on sale. There's no way I'd pay $40 for it, but I don't regret buying it for my kids under $20.
