    I absolutely love Sam Neil, and seeing him as Merlin outside of Dr. Alan Grant was enough to make me happy.

    After not seeing this movie for many many years, it's clear my nostalgic glasses were on in my reminiscing.

    I'll be honest, still love his portrayal of Merlin. Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange/Harry Potter) as Morgan Le Fey, and even Martin Short for added fun.

    Graphics are seriously outdated and really shows its age. Even though it was made for TV, yeah, still shows lol.

    But I don't care, flaws and all I still loved it, and was worth rewatching after all these years. Highly recommend it if you remember it from years ago and loved it as well.

    I first watched Merlin on a vhs tape back in the 90's I still have that tape, but not the tv/vhs/dvd combo. And I could not get the dvd/vhs player/recorder that I have now to project a picture onto my tv screen. I was looking for another combo and ordered Merlin in DVD form in case my old vhs tape didn't play. But the purchase of a dvd/vhs/tv combo fell through and I returned this DVD to Amazon. However, if you like a good fantasy about magic, I highly recommend Merlin.

    I think about this movie all the time! I saw it when it originally came out on TV. I was a little girl and loved this story of Merlin! Buying this dvd 24ish years later, I was worried it wasn't going to stand the test of time. Still good! Still crazy weird! Sam Neill and Martin Short are still the best. Most of the special effects stand up (except the griffins, so funny!) and the music is beautiful.
    The DVD itself was new and worked great. No problems here!

    I will admit, it's not the academic's version of Arthurian legend, but it's a charming story told in an entertaining way and shouldn't let joyless people prevent you from enjoying it. Sam Neil is wonderful and the rest of the characters are well cast as well.
