Nice little side album with a few new originals.

I wish they would have thrown a cover song on here. But otherwise it's a nice release for Head & Heart fans.

I really like this little E.P. It sounds much more like The Head And The Heart than their latest pop music opus Signs Of Light. I think WB and the band released this to satisfy the fans who were all so unhappy with the new direction of the band on their major label debut. The eight tracks here are more stripped down and way less over produced than SOL. They sound more like the band before that album and I think most all of us who love this band prefer this to what they have become. The closer, Bluebird, is a gorgeous ballad, by the way, and closes this E.P. rather fittingly. I would hope that on the band's next album they regress to their former sound. Signs of Light was too loud, in your face and annoyingly so. It was like Warner Bros. told the band to turn up the volume and play with more aggression, which is totally against what the band always was about. What made them memorable was the sparseness of their music and the delicate delivery that echoed beauty and fragility. They were never and plug in the guitars and rock out kind of band, which it seems like their record label is pushing them to do now to try and sell more records. This E.P. is a reminder that they still have some of their old spirit left in them. The record label has not rung it all out of them just yet. Let's hope they either A) get dropped by the label and go back to making music on their terms or B) defy their label and insist on making records their own way despite the corporate pressure and influence to be something they are not.

I love The Head and the Heart. Some of this is music on other CD's but I still love it.

Really mellow. Nice arrangements of some of their music. Love it.

The Head and The Heart are outstanding. I wish they played a venue near me!

This was more acoustic and having the original release, made a great partner to listen to back to back. Some of these songs seem a bit better because they are rawer than the "Album" version. Not all music is made better by a producer.

The Head and the Heart never cease to amaze.

First, full disclosure: I love Stinson Beach and nearby Bolinas, California, just around the corner from the San Francisco Bay but in another, much more relaxed world than SF, Silicon Valley and the East Bay an hour away.

And I confess I also love demos from master musicians, maybe a little rough around the edges compared to super polished finished products, but more, well, authentic at times. Whether Beatles outakes and demos or mid 70s Fleetwood Mac, sometimes I'd rather listen to the work in progress than the final edition.

So this Record Day special edition of the rehersals of songs that would appear on Signs of Light (plus a few special treats no where else available) is a winner for me in every respect. The sound is fantastic to my ears and I am especially fond of the lead track--No Guarantees--which coulda/shoulda been a hit but is only available here.

Overall, the melodies, harmonies, song-writing and tight instruments of all the tracks are, well, phenomenal. This is on, as they say, heavy rotation in our house in rural Hungary, but with a window looking out at Stinson Beach through these songs.

Brillanter Sound von einer der besten Bands des Folk- Indie-Rocks. The Head and the Heart, sind so finde ich die Entdeckung der vergangenen Jahre. Ihr Sound ist durchgängig und geht ins Ohr und Herz.

A great band. But as nearly all their songs are on their other albums, and better done....
