Editorial Reviews
The songs on Straw In The Wind are filled with narratives of cautionary tales, regret, revenge, philosophical questioning, lovers, dreamers, but most of all, it s an introduction to a fantastic, hard-edged, blue-collar band steeped in the culture and tradition of the South with a broader view. Their genre-blending sound is equally as old school as it is contemporary, while remaining unquestionably timeless.
Straw In The Wind features 13 tracks mostly written by lead singer Wes Bayliss and guitarist Jason Rowdy Cope, who played guitar in Jamey Johnson s band for nine years. The album includes songs by acclaimed writers such as Darrell Scott, Brent Cobb and even Black Sabbath, which receive inspired and distinctive interpretations. Bayliss and Cope, the gifted multi-instrumentalists and group co-founders, and joined by drummer Jay Tooke and bassist Johnny Stanton.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2020I'm usually a metal man, but I've been expanding. I happened upon this band through YouTube, and I'm glad I did. This is country-ish, but more on the southern rock side ( I'm mean they have a Pantera cover on this album for goodness sake! - Hole in the sky ) this album is well worth the purchase.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2018How this album has flown under the radar in the era of Stapleton is beyond me. This is a superb collection of stories set to southern country rock that ranges from achingly beautiful to a foreboding crunch. If you like the rock and roll of the Outlaws combined with the storytelling of Tom Russell then this is for you. Standouts: Wild and Blue, Della Jeans Heart, Straw in the Wind and, of course, Hole in the Sky.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2021I had come across this band recently and gave them a listen and was pleasantly surprised. Most of their songs on this cd are excellent. I also bought Old News and it is pretty good too but not as good as this one
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2017This band jumped up and smacked me in the face. From top to bottom this album is solid. The guys are extremely talented with unique voices, talented guitar playing, and the writing is on point. I can't wait till they make it around the midwest cause I think they'll be great to see live. Don't hesitate to pick this one up if you're into southern rock / Texas country style music. The vinyl is clean, straight and sounds great.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2018I purchased this CD quickly after seeing them live. The band is amazing live and I was hoping that the CD would be even better since there were additional songs that I didn't get to hear due to their quick set. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The music on the CD lacks the depth and and hardiness of the live music, though this is hardly the fault of Amazon. That being said, the CD did arrive in excellent condition and quickly.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2020Excellent album by, in my opinion, the most talented band in the business these days. They just don't miss! Highly recommend the CD and get to a live show if you can because they're even better live. Just awesome.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2020I can across this band via a YouTube introduction a few days ago. This is the BEST music I have heard in a long time. If they had 10 albums I would buy them all!!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2020Steel Woods, a great country band with a bluegrass sound... I first heard them on the YouTube "Outdoors with the Morgans" channel and knew I had to purchase their CD...

5.0 out of 5 stars L'esordio di una trilogia vincente.

5.0 out of 5 stars Southern Rock at its best!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Album
I first heard of this band when they were on the bill of the Grand Ole Oprey - for my 60th Birthday treat trip to Nashville. This is truly a fantastic album that gets better with each listen. Some Great playing and very atmospheric tunes - One of my favourite albums of 2018. Southern Country Rock at its very best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superbe Southern Rock!!!
The Well", somptueuse ballade chargée d'émotion.
Rien à jeter mais je retiens tout particulièrement "Axe", "Better In The Fall", "The Well", "Straw In The Wind", "Wild And Blue", "Whatever It Means To You" et l'inattendue mais très réussie reprise de Black Sabbath "Hole In The Sky".
