An INTERESTING game! You must catch prey to advance to Ascension. You get other Koi by hatching eggs that you breed. The end product is a Very Colorful Dragon!! There are awards, pearls, and other things. Music is very relaxing! I like ...It took a few days to understand the gameplay. Customer Service is prompt and helpful ! (I have edited my former review for mistakes!) I now have 9 beautifully colored dragons. The Koi colors become Dragon colors. Having a Koi swimming in a huge pond, (it gets bigger as you advance,) is such a different game! No real violence, unless you are the prey, 😀 but time gently slips past when I play! It's amazing. I love playing Zen Koi.....

    Makes it so completely addicting? You start with a tiny fish in a tiny pond. You guide your fish around the pond eating other fish. You expand the pond upon leveling up. Following a set diet of consuming a certain number of specific fish, you gradually grow and produce offspring with other fish that happen along. Eventually, you meet fish of other colors and patterns allowing for new breeds. You don't know what you're offspring will look like until it's hatched. You can see in a menu page a list of your collection, as well as, silhouettes of available fish you haven't bred yet. Each pattern has common and rare colors and 16 available fish in each of those. This is not a game where your options easily run out. I have already opened 6-7 patterns.

    Each fish that you are using to level up, eventually -after 8 levels each -ascends to turn into a beautiful dragon. (You also can view your dragon collection to see which fish needs to ascend or if you already have it.) As your fish is leveling up, you gain experience points and can put those points in the area you desire improvement; agility, speed, and rarity. And even those areas vary in individual fish, so even in identical looking fish, one could likely be better for your diet challenges to begin with. The challenges are sometime a bit difficult, but not frustrating.

    This sounds complicated when trying to explain it, but it really isn't. My 10 year old granddaughter loves it and already had a dragon after a couple of days of random play. So even children will like it and can play. There is nothing about the eating or breeding process to worry about. It's fine and in a simplistic manner that doesn't offend.

    The game has options available for purchase but are not necessary. You can earn plenty of pearls to open select areas by watching ads, and that option is generously available. It's quite an unusual free game; as in most things are truly free with a little time and pearl collection. And there are also special collector edition fish that can be unlocked with enough Dragon points and pearls. The possibilities are enormous.

    There are no time limits set in anything. Your fish can never be harmed, only slowed down. The music is upbeat and calming at the same time. This game is literally ZEN! I couldn't be happier.

    I usually don't play virtual pet games, but this one is different in that it is very calming. The object of the game is to raise your koi fish into a dragon by hunting prey & expanding the pond. Once your koi is an adult at level 4 or 5, you can breed more koi that come in vibrant colors & patterns.

    As you hunt prey, time will slip away from you. The simple gameplay, nice graphics, & the ambient music will put you in an idle, relaxed state that I don't get often while playing video games.

    While there are in app purchases, they aren't necessary to play the game. Playing with ads lets you get one free pearl per ad. The pearls allow you to increase your koi egg slots & buy more fish (though you are better off just breeding them).

    If you need a game that will calm you, a game where you aren't rushed to do anything, then get this game.

    My teen downloaded this game for her cat. I got hooked. It is visually appealing, the music is soothing. I got hooked trying to breed an entire collection of Koi. And once I did...5 pearls. Which could be earned by watching 5 videos. It took 7 hours for the eggs to hatch, so played everyday for a week to complete my collection...for 5 pearls.

    Pro: the advertising is one touch and easy to leave. you can choose to earn pearls by watching adds, but not required. The game is fairly relaxing. Possibly learning Japanese words for colors.
    Cons: must be connected to the internet to play. When I finish a game of solitaire, I get a fireworks display; while you do get a little display when a fish turns into a dragon, I expected more of a reward for finishing an entire collection. Long wait time on eggs hatching...sometimes minutes, sometimes hours.

    I love this game- so calming and relaxing! Koi are my favorite type of fish and to breed them is so exciting! It's kind of hard to do a breeding circle but the result is a cool surprise koi and who doesn't love that?

    You can play with your offspring and eat little fish which are not very cute so I don't feel bad about eating them and level up, create crystals, expand your pond, and ascend your koi into a powerful dragon!!!

    This game is so cute, fun and relaxing and it's especially fun to play when you have just suffered defeat in another game like Candy Crush (match-three=boring!!!) I could literally play twenty-four hours a day!😁
