Think bread crumb texture. The nuggets are rather small and crumbly though. It’s a small package but being 100% salmon, I guess you don’t need to give your dog a lot of them at once. I dunno if I’d seek them out, they just happen to be at a good price to try something new.

    Our dog's been on a special diet where she can only have salmon and rice. So these were really the only option for her to have treats. She definitely likes them. The only complaint is that they are tiny tiny pieces, almost crumbles. I'm not sure if that was just because of shipping or if that's how they always are.

    We have tried Turkey and Beef varieties (I’be read the salmon crumbled too much). The turkey is just right. It can get a little crumbly at the bottom of the bag, but otherwise perfect size bits of pure lean turkey. And only 2 calories per tread. The beef is good but obviously fattier meat and some pieces are all fat or all gristle. And your hands get greasy with the beef. Our puppy can have a full belly and if I bust out the wellness Core Turkey, he goes crazy for it and we can still train. And for reference, we have freeze dried Orijen treats and they look like pieces of dry cardboard. Wellness Core looks like chunks of meat.

    My dachshunds love these. But they are hard and they pulverize easily, like when you don't want them too. There's a lot of powdered salmon at the bottom of the bag so we have begun mixing it in their meals at dinner time. No complaints from them!! I've never had a bad Wellness Core product. My dogs love everything from them and I can justify the expense because they love it and I know it's a quality product and better for them. But this is one I won't buy again, only because it's so fragile. But they do love the taste.

    Unlike the '100% BEEF' version of these Wellness Core treats, half of the bag appears to have come in much smaller pieces mixed with a lot of salmon powder. Luckily, we break up some pieces to sprinkle in our dog's food, so I suppose that half of the bag will go towards that. I was expecting it to be the same size and shape as the beef version, but perhaps this came from a bad crushed batch. I would return it if my dog wasn't obsessed with salmon anything and everything. So, crushed or not, she's happy and it's grain free to keep her from getting itchy. Also, beware of sticking your fingers in the bag, because it's pretty stinky. From now on, I'll just stick with the other flavors.

    Our Shih Tzu is very fussy and picky with any food or treat.
