This is Season 2 of Criminal Case, and several changes have been made after Season 1 in Grimsborough.
The tutorial is now a lot shorter; rather than giving you a mini-case a la "The Death of Rosa Wolf," you get a VERY short case that shows the fundamentals, and then it's on to your first full case. It does make sense, as design: the story assumes you've made it through Season 1, but the designers know that splitting the app means new players may start in later seasons; this splits the difference, and it looks like it's going to be SOP for all subsequent seasons.
The cases themselves have a different flow to them, and some of the lab sequences can get crazy in the Elite and Collection modes. Having to wait 3 days to access your next case is a lot easier when your coroner takes 36 hours to finish an autopsy. Also, some scenes require you to complete all tasks before they unlock. You won't be able to cherry-pick evidence, run all the forensic clues, and wrap with interrogations. Some scenes require you to have all evidence analyzed, and all interviews complete, before you can access the scenes and their evidence. Stock up on stars: you'll need them in bunches more often than not.
Another change is in the "Chapter 4" sections. In Season 1, the usual flow was: these three suspects from the case need our help; the order you take them is up to you. Here in Season 2, that's not how it's done. There is a definite order to how the post-arrest chapters play out, which tightens up the narrative while expanding on it at the same time. It's a major change, but it is effective.
Also, the districts are a lot smaller. While Grimsborough had you needing to finish ten episodes for most districts, starting in Season 2, the districts get smaller, so you'll be unlocking new map areas more frequently.
Now for the less structural stuff. Visually and aurally, Pacific Bay feels a bit like a latter-day homage to the original "Miami Vice" in some of the early chapters. The principal cast in the Pacific Bay PD is a quirky bunch, to say the least. No spoilers, but be prepared to say, "Oookayy..." more than once.
Fans of the series will want to snap this up right away. New players might do well to start with Season 1 in Grimsborough, or at least play Season 1 in parallel with Pacific Bay. There's a lot to enjoy here, and the changes that have been made are mostly for the better. A can't-miss mix of hidden objects and detective fiction; if you're a fan of either genre and you somehow haven't discovered this series, welcome to your new obsession.
THE GOOD: Gorgeous graphics and very good sound; writing is some of the best in the free-to-play market; forensic mini-games add variety to the experience THE BAD: Some of the initial crime scenes aren't for the squeamish. This is compounded slightly by a coroner who can describe the sometimes gruesome deaths with disquieting aplomb. THE UGLY: Some of the forensic clues can take over 24 hours to finish.
OVERALL: If you have the patience for it, you'll love it. If you're impatient and on a budget, know what you're getting into before you get too far along.
Yeah, this and the original Criminal Case are fun games, but don't ask them any questions. I wanted to know how to rename my avatar. I looked in FAQs, but didn't find what I was looking for. I sent them my question, and they responded with a very curt email telling me to look in FAQs, and that I would get no further response regarding my inquiry. Screw them. If they can't be bothered to give me a decent response to my question, I can't be bothered playing their game. I don't like being dismissed. They need to go back to school and learn something about customer relations. They lost me as a customer.
I remember I played the first Criminal Case (Grimsbourgh) when I was younger, I loved it then and now. I'm so glad I was able to stumble across these new Criminal Case games. An amazing app overall and super fun.
I am 10 years old and I love games that have mythical, match 3, and Hidden Artifacts themes. And this Is the game for me! This game really is cool and DOWNLOAD IT NOW!!!!! :) This game really attracted me into a world where I was a cop solving murder mysteries. Kind of like Hidden Artifacts, but with cops. The only complaint is I wish that I didn't have to pay for every and speeding up autopsies.
Fun game, I enjoy finding the items on the lists and earning the stars. My only complaint is there is no opportunity to earn free energy even if you watch ads because they want you to pay real cash money for all the privileges of moving forward more quickly. And you cant even go to the next level for 24 hrs unless you pay to go sooner. So that is 24 hrs you are stuck and unable to play.
These Criminal Case games can be fun and you can actually play without spending any real money. I personally could do without the profanity--blatant and inferred, thus the four star rating.
Revised December 2017 -- obviously these apps generated from outside the U.S. where English is not the primary language as evidenced by the wording of some of the "conversations" and the names of objects. Also, the political opinions could be dropped. I don't need lessons in Liberalism 101 while I'm playing a game so I'm now skipping all areas of dialog (most of which is stupid and pointless anyway.) Still mildly entertaining but I'm losing interest fast.
Holy cheese, this game is good! It's a search and find game with minigames like fixing things or finding samples of stuff. You make an avatar and interact with multiple different characters. You mainly interact with a girl named Amy. The first case is very interesting, with multiple chapters and lots of plot twists (Like the victim cheating on his wife, perhaps.) I would recommend this to anyone who likes puzzles and mysteries. Id I'd recommend this to ages 9+. 🚔
I downloaded this for my fire 10, but it wouldn't support it. I have it on 3 other devices, but was disappointed I couldn't play it on my Fire 10. Maybe I downloaded wrong, but I wish I had it on all my devices.

This is actually a very addictive and honest to god brillinant game. It ain't like a standered boring problem solving criminal game that u get boared after 5 mins of playing! This story has characters that you grow to love, funny dialouge , its smooth sailing and has a story line that matches the game you are playing and gets u interested. Obviously u have to pay small amounts for the next level but it is a small sacrifice to play until the end!
