Never Mess with Mistletoe: Volume 10 (Leigh Koslow Mystery Series) Kindle Edition
Tenth in the USA-Today and Kindle Top-Ten bestselling Leigh Koslow mystery series!
Frances Koslow was ecstatic to have her humble abode chosen as stop #3 on the Holiday House Tour. Then everyone drank the cider.
When Leigh’s parents’ house becomes a last-minute substitution on the regional garden club’s famous Holiday House Tour, Frances Koslow is thrilled. But the tour is tomorrow, there’s work to be done, and Frances’s dwindling and aging “Floribunda” chapter is in dire need of reinforcements. Worried about her mother’s blood pressure, particularly as sisterly tensions rise over Leigh’s Aunt Lydie’s upcoming Christmas Eve wedding, Leigh steps in to make sure the tour runs smoothly.
But perhaps Leigh isn’t the ideal choice for the task. Not when a fortune cookie has just portended the return of her infamous “bad karma.” Not when everyone knows the real reason the Floribundas have declined is because every remaining member is a whackadoodle. And not when someone’s idea of Christmas spirit is to add a little something extra to the sweet cider punch.
One dead Floribunda later, Leigh struggles to keep her family calm in the midst of swirling suspicions, flying accusations, and dubious warnings of biological warfare. But when someone threatens to silence her own all-too-curious daughter, mother-rage kicks in. Nobody is ruining Leigh's family’s Merry Christmas. Not even her family.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2016Never Mess with Mistletoe: Volume 10 (Leigh Koslow Mystery Series) Kindle Edition was just as good as every other Leigh Koslow book I have read. I am hopelessly addicted to these books, and this fictional family. I have read every single one of this authors books, and I have liked every one.
Leigh's mother is very tidy. Some might say she is a little OCD about cleaning. This is something we have always known about her, but in this book we find out why. During a Christmas tour one member of the women's club quietly passes away. She had been ill, but she had alsp asked some of her friends to help her end her life. They all refused. Or did they? To make it worse, poisoning was suspected and this hit Frances very hard. Leigh is finally able to learn why her mom is so careful with her cleaning, when an incident out of the past comes to light. She doesn't have much time to think about that though, as events during the tour may have put her own young daughter in danger. This brings Maura, Leigh's law enforcement friend to the rescue, of course.
Read them all or start in the middle, or right here, as the books can all stand alone. I recommend that you read them all at some point, because they are fun, intriguing and the characters will become people you look forward to seeing. This author also has a couple of stand alones and YA books available. I've read those too. Good reads, each and every one.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2019As I've mentioned in other reviews, I enjoy reading holiday-themed novels at the festive season, and this book fit the bill nicely. I've read a couple of others in the series previously and this story seemed similar. I do like the way the author delves into the characters' emotions, especially, in this book, on behalf of the parents protecting their children. I found the slightly nutso Floribundas to be vastly entertaining. The book was well-written and well-edited, and I didn't have a clue as to the killer--that came as a complete surprise. If I have any complaint at all about the story, it was that the boring laser tag game scene seemed to be nothing but several pages of padding to add to the word count. I skimmed right through it and got back to the meat of the story. Otherwise, a very pleasant Christmas-themed cozy.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2017This is one of Edie Claire best books. I was laughing or smiling throughout the book. It dealt with serious social problems, assisted suicide and insurance fraud.
The Floribundas, Francis Koslow's garden club are delighted that her home has been selected as a last minute addition to the annual Christmas Garden Tour. The scene where they received the information is great satire as the scene when they receive an anonymous message that the white power around the house is anthrax. One member of the Floribundas is found dead. The cause of death is important as an accidental insurance policy is in play. Allison's curiosity puts her in danger and Lucie and Mason are getting married. I highly recommend this book and series.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2020This story takes a long time to get started (the mystery doesn’t actually start until almost halfway in) and drags out the ending. Once the mystery actually gets going, the story is engaging and reads easily.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2020Very enjoyable story of a close knit family and their crazy happenings. I now need to read all the mysteries of this family. I'm a fan after reading this book. Loved the crazy old ladies of the garden club even though some are kinda nasty. The whole family was knee deep in this murder and feared for their safety. Enjoyed this tale from the Burgh.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2020I liked the book and the writing and the mystery which was fairly obviously solved about halfway through the book except for the Plot Hole. That has to do with a notebook and access to it, which is never explained. Thinking I knew who did it, I researched back through chapters to figure out where the access was. It was not previously dropped as a hint nor explained at the end. I think if that plot hole were filled, the suspense ( which was not much), could have been much greater and the book much more enjoyable
- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2020This is the first Leigh Koslow mystery I’ve read and it won’t be the last.
Good grammar, no misuse of words, no misspellings. That’s one of my hot-buttons, and Edie Claire writes well.
The Floribunda Garden Club members are crazy (meaning their “little quirks” are very large quirks), which is part of what makes the book so funny. It’s almost a screwball mystery, and I adore those.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2020The local Garden Club unexpectedly need to host a home for the Holiday tour. The Floribundas work feverishly to prepare the house for the tour. Before the tour ends one of them will be dead. Colorful characters make for an entertaining read that keeps you guessing. This is the first book in the series that I have read. I didn't feel lost because I hadn't read any of the earlier books. You could read and enjoy this book any season of the year.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good Christmas read that I really liked
This is my first read of a Ms Claire book and I’ll say right now that I enjoyed this one enough that I’m sure I’ll read some more in this series. This book is definitely Christmassy enough to qualify in my 2019 Xmas reading project and it’s solid 4 star rating places it in the top few of my Xmas reads this year. Lots of weird and wacky characters plus some really likeable ones like Leigh, Mason, Warren and Lydie and then there’s Allison who’s 12 going on 22 years and is almost the star of this show. Lots of smiles and chuckles along with some good looks at a very current social concern, a pretty good murder investigation and a good satisfactory happy ending for the good guys and an appropriate ending for the bad guy who I didn’t really suspect until Leigh, Allison and Lenna put all the clues together. Again a good read that I really liked.

4.0 out of 5 stars holiday read
Fabulous book full of quirky characters and a ripper story line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just as good and quirky
I really enjoyed reading about all the extended family of Leigh, again, and trying to work out who did it. After reading some books recently with some really stilted characters you realize how difficult it is to make really good characters come alive.

4.0 out of 5 stars Didn’t guess the ending
An easy read with an ending I didn’t see coming. Very good book.
