A great budget chair—but a tad short.
4 out of 5 stars
A great budget chair—but a tad short.
Let me start off by explaining that I don’t come from luxury office chairs. Before this, I had been using a wooden bar chair, a yoga ball, and finally, a masseuse stool. My standards for comfort may be pretty low compared to anyone coming from more comfortable chairs. That being said, this is a very comfortable chair.I had initially bought a stool, fearing for the lack of space in my room, but after sitting in the stool for even 4 hours, my hips, butt, and lower back would start hurting. So I bought this.I have had this since early February 2022 (going on 5 months at time of writing) and it’s still holding up fine. No significant wear in the material, no issues with the base. Nothing. Even the arm rests are fine. It does its job.I use my computer for 8-15 hours a day (both work and hobbies) so this chair gets a lot of use. So far it has held up, but I will update with the date, if or when it does start to fail.I do have some minor issues though. Sitting in it, it feels like the chair is tilted forward, like I’m about to slide off, even though I’m securely in it. In the end it may be better for my legs, because there’s no pressure point to cut off circulation behind my knees, but it’s something that takes time to adjust to, especially if you’re used to more of a bucket-type seat. The second issue I have is that the cylinder/lift of the chair is WAY too short. I have a standard computer desk, and with the chair at maximum height, the desk was at my sternum, and I was forced to type with my arms far too high. It caused significant joint pain in my shoulders, elbows, wrists, and knuckles. I didn't hate the chair, and I didn’t feel like sending it back, so I decided to just replace the part that was bothering me.The third issue is that after a few months, the cylinder wouldn’t hold its height. I had to raise it every time I wanted to sit, and with my incessant rocking and twisting (ADHD, gotta fidget,) it would drop while sitting in it, and I’d have to lift it back up every few hours. So this was another deciding factor for my choice to replace the riser. In the photo, the cylinder on the right is the one that comes with the chair. That is fully-extended. The one on the left is one that I bought (also off of Amazon) which arrived today, and is in its fully-compressed state. The extra height has made a WORLD of difference. In conclusion: If you want a sub-$100 chair, this is a great choice. You may need to put a chair cushion on it if you prefer a soft seat, and if you need more height, buy a cylinder with it, so you don’t have to go through the replacement process which is a pain. (The one I bought is 11.4”-16.9”. I’m 5’6” and have a 30.3” tall desk, if that helps.) In the end, I have spent $100 on this chair (if we include the cylinder) which isn’t too bad. There are definitely cheaper cylinders out there than the one I got, which can cut down the cost, but since I’d already installed the stock one, I needed tools to remove it. Sure, I could have just taken a hammer to it, but this way was much easier. Chair was $70, cylinder kit was $30. Not awful. But for that price, you may be better off going into your nearest office supply store and trying out those chairs in person. For me, this was the easier option, and considering you’re looking at chairs on Amazon, I’m going to assume this is the easier option for you, too.You get what you pay for, and in this case, it seems to be a good product.

I had been using a cheap Target computer chair for a few months, since my old good-quality chair had finally given out after years of service and I didn't have the money to replace it with another good-quality model. I work at my computer for 8+ hours a day, so sitting in that chair without back support was causing me a lot of pain.

I browsed around on Amazon for a few days, comparing different chairs. Overall, this one had the best reviews, so I took the plunge and ordered it.

Two days later, this beauty was sitting on my front porch waiting to be assembled.

    Assembly:
Super easy. There were MAYBE 5 steps to put it all together. All of the pieces were in the box and none of the pieces, including the actual chair part, were damaged or malformed in any way.

    Aesthetics:
This is a nice-looking chair. The materials seem to be high-quality; no funky leather-ish smell at all either. It goes really well with my black computer monitor, black speakers, black desk, black computer, etc.

    Functional quality:
This chair swivels and glides smoothly across the floor. The raise/lower lever doesn't stick, and the chair doesn't lower over time under my weight. I'm 5'8 and 260 lbs for reference, so it seems to be a pretty sturdy chair. It's not a tight fit when I sit down either; the seat itself is decently wide and deep. The back of the chair is sturdy yet forgiving- it's not like sitting against a brick wall, but it provides nice back support. The top of the back comes up to my ears (again, I'm 5'8 for reference).

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend this office chair to anyone who needs a comfortable, ergonomically supportive chair.

Used to work from home. Comfortable for all day usage. The chair rolls easily. The chair has both height and backrest adjustments. Each adjustment is quick and easy with the locking feature working well.

The chair has been holding up fine with constant use for last year. The material has no significant wear. I did have to retighten several parts after about 9 months but not an issue.

Great value for a super comfortable chair that has features of more expensive chairs.

For the price, it's a very servicable desk chair. I needed something to stick under a coding desk for a couple hours a day for now. I plan to get something better later down the road. It wobbles slighty to the left and right on the stem like every inexpensive desk chair. It's nothing you'd sit in and see the world fade to harmony. The higher back support was the selling point as most inexepensive chairs just have that square block of back doom so there is that.

The assembly was extremely patience testing. The instructions are actually not the best way to put it together. At least for one person. It tells you to put the armrests on the base cushion first and slide the back rest down, but if you could do that and actually line the screw holes up without feeling any anxeity, then you are probably someone that stares into the face of death as a career choice, which means you are paid a lot more than me and can afford a much, much better chair. I mean even if you did want this chair you could just afford someone to put it together for you and I would just recommend that. It assembled much easier when I screwed the armrests to the back rest and then put it on the base. That's not a personal preference, it's just a background in engineering. Also one of the screws had a bad initial thread and I fell for fumbling with it for a few minutes thinking it wasn't just lining up. There's an extra screw for each type, so slight no biggie, but by this I'm seeing a ~11% chance to get a bad screw. Neat.

Lastly, lets talk about this "gaming" tagline. It did not increase my FPS. It did not increase my KDR. It lacks RGB features. There was no acheivement list, though I feel like putting the last bit together should have at least made a cool sound effect upon completion. It did in my head. It always does in your head.

Overall if you just want something that works and don't want a new line of credit, then this is fine. Just bring a friend and some minor engineering common sense and you'll be alright.

So I wasn't expecting a fantastic wonder chair at this price ($60), but as it was the same price as the most basic model from my local retailers I opted to try it out as it is branded as a "gaming" chair and that was the function I would use it for the most.
The chair itself is comfortable, I do get some hitching when I recline it, but that may just be something with the tightness of some of the assembly components. I may go back over it to see if I can correct it. The gas piston is quite robust and easily elevated and lowered the chair even with part of my weight on it. The rollers work well enough on both the rug and hard floors I use the chair on without any catching or slipping. Assembly was a breeze, though it did take a minute to find the instructions as they had been packaged with the seat inside the plastic bag and had gotten stuck to the bag as I removed it. The chair is very firm (the armrest padding is exceptionally firm in fact), so if you are looking for that soft cushy chair either get a cushion or go for a different chair. The "leather" is not the greatest quality. When I got the chair it had a very grey, almost dusty look to it. Using an armor-all dash wipe on it made it shine up a bit, but the leather feels fake or at the very least exceedingly thin.
EDIT: about 1 year and 3 months later all wheels have completely broken off. They split out of the sides which is no surprise due to them being constructed as a pin with a flimsy plastic wheel on either side. For what I paid it is still a solid deal. But taking a star off for this failure less than 2 years in which is what I expect from any kind of office chair.
