Product Description
Trapping and releasing mice just got easy! The Victor TIN CAT Mouse Trap allows for the humane capture of mice in your home or business while remaining discreet. This trap is large and can hold up to 30 mice before it would need to be emptied. However, be sure to check traps regularly to release them in a reasonable amount of time. This trap includes no poisons and no snaps, it just lures mice in to then await their release in a new location. This trap was specifically designed for escapee’s aka mice. The see-saw design captures mice and once they go past them threshold, it will not allow any to escape. For best results, we recommend baiting the trap with a small smear of peanut butter on the inside wall of the trap. One of the versatile parts of the TIN CAT trap is its placement. Place it inside or outside, under furniture, inside cabinets, in the garage, in the attic or anywhere mice tend to travel.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2022No idea why this thing works so well, but I catch mice all the time in this. Have one in the garage, one out back against the house. In spring and summer, this is never empty of mice. I have crazy expensive spinner traps, glue traps, poisons, snap traps. This "metal cat" thing beats them all. I don't bait it. I just put it along the house with the opening facing parallel to the wall.
If you want to release the mice, check it every day or two. If you forget, they starve, die of dehydration, or eat each other if there's more than one mouse in here. Quite cruel to not properly handle the mice, no matter if you are eliminating them or releasing them elsewhere.
I leave them in the trap and then when we get to the large park field by the house, you can open the lid and let the mice out. Watched an owl swoop in and snatch one up maybe 10 seconds after I let it loose. Problem solved.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2020I saw a mouse in my pantry a few days ago. Someone recommended this as a humane method. For 2 night before it arrived I put out a little peanut butter on a small piece of cheese in the pantry. When it arrived I put a little PB and cheese in it and then next morning had 5 mice in it! Removed everything from pantry, no mice. Let them go about half a mile away near some dumpsters.
Unbelievably effective! In one night I got rid of all my mice, but to be sure I am going to bait it again and put it back, since it's reusable, or if you're really squeamish you can just throw it all away.
EDIT: I made a mistake, I didn't get all of the mice the first night, I got 5 more the next night and 2 the night after. This thing WORKS!
Based on my experience I cannot recommend this highly enough.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2021I ordered one of these because they are light weight and would fit above my suspended ceiling in my living room... Where our 3 cats held the mice at bay. I was tired of deploying poison every 3 months... its expensive and I always had to listen to the mice drag the poison blocks around the cieling.
I also did not want to deal with kill traps up there. Mice smell bad and rather fast. I'm not one against killing mice but I'm against that smell and was a little afraid of inquisitive cats finding an armed trap.
Now the first trap I recieved did not work properly. I thought it was a spring or something. Amazon said it was returnable if damaged but I had to talk to customer service to get it returned.
I ordered another one as soon as I saw the credit applied. It worked fine on the initial function test. My review is both a story and my final observations are at the end.
Day 1: wearing disposable gloves I used a 1 inch (approximate) square of white bread with peanut butter and placed it under the kitchen sink where I've seen mouse evidence in the past. No joy as the trap was empty the next morning. I used to trap fur bearing animals years ago so I was not totally upset and changed locations.
I used the same type of bait, this time 2 pieces. Placed it on top of the ceiling tile next to a joist since mice like to run along walls and edges by nature.
Sitting in the living room within 2 hours of placing the trap I heard an excited scurry across the ceiling and some metal tapping. I left the mouse in there (it had food) for a few more hours to see I I could catch any others. Nope. I released a very fat midwest deer mouse the next day... After all it ate both pieces of bread. It was rather large and jumped about 4 feet away from me when I opened the trap.
Day 2: Instead of bread I took a small piece of paper towel and dabbed peanut butter on that. My idea is was to not put my lunch peanut butter or any eating utensil in this trap. I thought I was so smart. I deployed the trap in the same location. Within a few hours I heard some scurried excitement and some scratching noises... I thought to myself, by morning I'll have another one. The next morning I checked the trap to find no mouse. After reading several reviews about mice escaping I started to wonder about the trap; however, low and behold when it was time to bait the trap later that day... no paper towel. Apparently the towel was close enough to the vent holes that the mice/mouse pulled the paper towel from the trap. There was peanut butter all over near the trap vents. Still no mice, I assume they must have been full.
Day 3: I went back to the bread and peanut butter. I heard scurrying but not as excited as before and only a few clicks on the metal. I was not all that excited fearing the mice were smarter than the trap when I retrieved it the next day. Low and behold 3 deer mice in the trap. They were friendly little guys sniffing me through the vent so I drove them a mile away and released them in a new drainage trench with tall grasses and seeds around.
I skipped a few weeks because the smell of mouse was getting strong and I did not hear anymore scurrying. The cats did not hear anything either, instead of standing guard like normal at night they all came to bed.
When it started to get colder, the cats and I noticed more scurrying. So this time since everyone of these have been native deer mice and not grey house mice I started using Sunflower seed from my mothers garden to bait the trap along with the bread and peanut butter. This morning once again there were 2 deer mice. They ate all of the seeds and ignored the bread and some of the peanut butter. I released them in a manner that would not result in them returning to my house. The instructions say 2 miles away.
So I noticed that though there is a positive lock on the lid, I added a piece of gaffers tape (less messy than other tapes) to ensure that a excited and clever deer mouse would not pop the lid. Experiance tells me that though they share the same teleportation ability of their house mouse counter parts they are very smart when it come to traps... very. They will get the bait from the old fashion snap traps.
Instead of tape, I noticed a person could use the original packaging sleeve, except mine was a bit snug so I did not bother to cut out a spot for the vent holes. It is a live trap so... I figured it would allow bait sent and air for the mice better if those were not covered up.
Despite the first defect this traps works very well. I'm glad I bought it and might buy another one. The only thing I don't like is that when its time to release the mice they like to crawl under the door mechanism. Its a job to convince them to get out of there.
I kind of wish it was stainless steel and not tin. If a person wanted to say eliminate the mice later via drowning the trap would rust after submerging it in water.
If you want a simple and working trap. This one is an excellent option for you to consider.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2021I had 7 of the plastic live traps out and this one. I had three baits in this and only one in the others, I caught over 20 mice in the others and not a single one went into this trap. I recall using one of these 5 years ago, and having more success. I don’t know if there is a malfunction or what, I suspect based on other reviewers, it’s faulty equipment. The baits were never touched. Our local swampland was built upon driving the wildlife out, I had a pantry full of food so my house was a smorgasbord for them, it didn’t take but a few weeks to go from a couple of mice, ones I rarely saw, to apparently an infestation. I couldn’t believe how many I caught in a few weeks time. Thankfully, after sealing my crawl space vents and tossing or properly storing all food, I seem to have gotten a handle on it before I had to get desperate and use poison. That said, if this trap was useable, it would have caught something. It would have been nice to catch more than one at a time, since I had to drive pretty far to release them in a safe area away from homes.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2019This is not great or even good. I've baited it, heard it catch a mouse and within 15 minutes it was out. Had to rebait, let it sit over night, all bait gone, no mice. It needs something to keep them locked in. I'm guessing one goes in, it's trapped, a second opens the door standing on it, they get out. Mice are smart, this trap was a total waste of money. Get something that either flips them in like the higher prices ketch all or other traps, this does not work.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2020This is a fantastic product!! I had mice in my RV😳!! I tried the regular mouse traps, but they only caught one & then I had to clean up a dead mouse😢. I saw this product recommended by another RVer and I decided to give it a try. I caught 6 mice within a week and a half. No kill, no mess, I just let them go in the woods. My mice problem is gone (although I still keep the trap around with some peanut butter & cheese). So I’m a happy camper & the mice get to live happily ever after - in the woods!! This is a great product and I tell others about it because it works AND I love a happy ending!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars WORKS WELL!!!
Catching mice every day since putting it out. Am using a capsule of Fenugreek which smells like maple (the critters had actually chewed through the bottle of the supplement to get to the capsules, which led me to using them as bait:)

1.0 out of 5 stars DOESNT CATCH MICE

3.0 out of 5 stars not consistently effective
I bought two of these. I was successful in catching two mice with it but only because I was quick enough to grab it before the mouse had a chance to escape. it is lightweight and easy to use. the mice that were going in and out were quite small so perhaps it would work better if the mice you are trying to catch are little bigger and heavier

4.0 out of 5 stars Works very well
I've purchased these traps before at Home Depot. They do work quite well but after a while the spring breaks and the trap has to be replaced otherwise the mice can get in and out. I've always purchased the traps with the plastic lid so you can look inside but when I placed my last order I didn't realize I purchased the traps without the plastic see through lid so we have to be careful not to let the mice escape when we open the lid.
