Great!
4 out of 5 stars
Great!
Although the critics/reviews have been hard on this movie- we thought it was very cute! It was good for our 6 and 8 year olds without unnecessary language and "attitude" which sometimes creeps into animated "kids" movies. Great for family movie night!

Super fun story with all the good moral lessons that should be included in movies made for children and their parents.
  • Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2017
My daughter loves this movie, so I'm giving it 5 stars based off that alone.
However, I have a few gripes with it.
    SPOILER ALERT
    SPOILER ALERT
    SPOILER ALERT
    That's enough warning. Here goes:
First off, why is the redhead being forced to live among the birds inside a warehouse or distribution center or whatever the location is supposed to be? Does she not have a home? The storks messed up, so they should at least rent her an apartment.
Next, the crazy stork who mishandled the redhead's delivery was always hiding around the property. It didn't have the courage to speak to the girl whatsoever until she turned 18? Why wait so long?! The whole issue for her could've been resolved years in advance.
The parents of the little boy who wanted a baby brother must've been delivered via stork delivery to begin with. Why are they acting like it's something impossible or imaginary? And if the storks delivered babies in the past but had to stop because of one stork messing up a delivery (the redhead's), you'd think there would be a new explanation of where babies come from. In this movie's universe, it's just assumed that babies were always delivered via stork deliveries, but what about newborns after the storks stopped? Are the humans now finally breeding naturally? Wouldn't that be an insane phenomenon where a corporation stops delivering infants and suddenly human females are having to birth them instead? I want answers!
The little pigeon is hilarious, but he seems like an outcast in the beginning of the movie when trying to hangout with the storks. Is that a race thing? Do the storks think they're better than the pigeon?
All the animals in the movie can speak to humans, but only the storks found a way to build their own society. Who is regulating the storks' business(es)? And why are the other animals, like the wolves or the little primate in the snow region still living like animals? They have the ability to speak! Go get a job, you animal bums!
The little boy put in a request for a new infant, which was accidentally created by the redhead. This should make the boy the father of the newborn. He put in the request, not his parents.
Whose DNA is being used to produce these babies anyway?!
And the stork delivery business was shutdown over 18 years prior to the events of the movie. You'd think some of the parents who receive babies in the end of the film would say, "Hey, I wanted the kid 18 years ago. Now I have other things going on, or maybe I'm too old. I don't want this kid! I didn't sit around for nearly 2 decades waiting for a baby to magically plop down into my life! Take this thing back."
The customer reviews for the stork delivery must be atrocious. Can you imagine if Amazon shutdown its delivery services, but then unintentionally brought production back? I'd be pretty angry if I ordered something from Amazon 18 years ago and they finally delivered it when I'd moved on with my life.
The main stork (voiced by Andy Samberg) seems to develop feelings for the redhead, but they hate each other initially. Why do they suddenly assume they're a family during a 2-day trip from the middle of nowhere going into the States?
And do the storks decide who gets what baby? They're all randomly generated in a machine, but it seems the storks decide, "Okay, this baby goes to this Caucasian family because it's Caucasian, and this one goes to the Hispanic family due to its Hispanic genes, and this one..." etc.
The movie left too many questions unanswered.

This movie is so much fun, which is why I purchased it after renting. The story line is captivating. I am 77, and I figure your kids would love it, too.

This had some good moments for both adults and kids (my kids are both under 5 years old). We laughed through a lot of it. I agree with other reviewers that the pace of action and conversation seemed unnaturally rapid. It took all my concentration to follow it at times. I think the comments about encouraging alternate family types are inconsistent; this is more like adoption than childbirth, and the real point is that children are valuable. Single moms can adopt kids too. The same gender couples don't have to be homosexual; they could be brothers, sisters, mom and daughter, aunt and niece, etc. There are a lot of family types out there that adopt kids. And if the kids point it out, what a great talking point. Let's not be afraid of open conversations and truth teaching for the very young. These things will be seen at Walmart, Target, school, camp, etc. so teach your kids in the safety of the home where they can't loudly say, "HEY MOM! WHY IS THAT PERSON SO FUNNY LOOKING???" (I can't be the only parent who has experienced this, right?)
All in all, this movie made me hug my kids closer. Children are precious. And this movie affirms that.

This was a fun movie for the whole family. There was humor for the kids and the adults. Our toddler watches this movie often and it doesn't make me want to rip my hair out. We actually purchased the movie and I feel like it was worth it.

I forgot how old I was, but a friend or family member of mine gave me a Blu-Ray version of the movie, which my parents and I don’t collect at our home.
But since I finally bought this as a real DVD, I enjoyed it!
