I bought two of these swaddles within a few days of each other. While they are both newborn size, they have different zipper designs.Space design with a two-way zipper gets 5 stars.Forest friends design with a one-way zipper that attaches at the top gets 1 star.The two way zipper is perfect. You can zip up from the bottom to change a diaper easily. However, the zipper is always attached, making it so easy to slip baby in and zip them up for a gentle night time routine.The one-way zipper is a nuisance and lazy design. They didn’t even bother to get rid of the zipper-protector at the top of the sack when they changed the zipper design, leaving an extra bit of fabric that once guarded baby from the zipper.To get the baby in and out, you have to detach the zipper or reattach it, like you would a jacket. Imagine it’s 2:00 am, dark in the bedroom, and you’ve just managed to soothe a fussy baby. Now you’re fiddling with getting this zipper put together, racing against the clock, trying not to make too many movements.They probably saved 2 cents on the zipper change but now I’ll be going for a different brand for the rest of my sleep sacks, and returning the one with a garbage zipper.

    I tried many types of swaddles/sleep sacks with my daughter, but these are by far the best. They’re easy to use while still being effective. They’re not super restrictive on her legs like other swaddles so she is far more comfortable. They also don’t rise over her mouth as much as other swaddles if she is squirming a lot. I like that the Velcro gives the option to cover her arms or leave them out. They’re also thick enough to be comforting and warm but thin and breathable enough (cotton instead of plastic material!) to keep her from overheating. I highly recommend.

    Pros: leg room is good for hips and easy diaper changes. Like that instructions come inside the swaddle. Like the inner vest making unswaddling during awake times easy without fully removing swaddle.
    Cons: I used the newborn size for my baby shortly after birth (7 lbs at birth, started at 7.5 lbs more or less) and still using currently at 5 weeks (about 8 lbs 12 oz). I find newborn size a little large still for her and the swaddle flaps seem a little loose and want to encroach on her face. I can make it work safely with arms down but now she's fighting that position more and I tried arms up so she can suck her fingers (she spits her pacifier out at night and I need to get up to put it back in). Thought arms up would help as she'd fight it less and self sooth but I noticed that the material completely covers her face after a few minutes when I swaddle with arms up. Also I bought some small sizes to have on hand for the next stage but can't imagine she won't be rolling over by time she fits in it so I will be returning and trying the wearable blanket instead. Don't think I will like this product for arms out since the velcro sticks to everything and is quite annoying. Velcro is only helpful if actually using it to swaddle and then it's just the lesser of 2 evils (easier than old fashioned swaddling especially for my husband who hasn't mastered that yet).
    In summary, seems better for babies that are slightly larger at each age/stage of development or in the larger end of the size range listed on the product.
    Update: still using NB size and back to swaddling in arms down position. She is actually sleeping quite well in this position if I wait for true sleepiness to kick in before swaddling and use in a very dark room after a diaper change and bottle. This is my go-to product for night sleeping despite the cons but I still caution against the arms up position. I think consistency with arms down despite setbacks is key. Also fighting the swaddling process doesn't mean they will fight the swaddle once in it.

    These were a nightly staple in our house until our baby girl started rolling. She loved them and we loved them, knowing that she was sleeping safe while also being cozy. We would put her in a long sleeve onesie with this over top, and she slept comfortably. One thing that makes the halo different is that you can swaddle your baby in so many different ways (arms in, arms out, one arm in, looser, tighter…) and you aren’t stuck with one swaddle type. The zipper is a great addition the this swaddle as it makes diaper changes easy.
    If you are on the fence, I would say just try it. They are great about exchanges if needed, which was very helpful as we had to exchange sizes once (we liked to size up a little bit). Which leads me to my last point— if your baby doesn’t like things tight on their feet, and you could either size up or down based on the recommendations, I would recommend sizing up. The fit seemed a little short to us. Otherwise, we are big big fans of these!
