- Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2017This brilliant and unusual comedy was created by father and son, Eugene and Daniel Levy. We've seen Eugene Levy paired with the brilliant Catherine O'Hara over and over in Christopher Guests classic mockumentaries. They are the mom and sad of a filthy rich family who loses everything through a duplicitous accountant. The only thing they are permitted to keep is a small town that Dad bought as a joke. The town is called Schitts Creek.
This is where they move and Chris Elliot (son of Bob Elliot of Bob andRay) is the mayor. The humor is subtle and racius. The mayor's name is Roland Schitt (say it quickly out loud) and his wife is Jocelyn Schitt. The family is trying to survive and cope while living in a bug infested motel and trying to continue life in a town filled with normal people to whom this family looks like something written by Feydeau.
This is hysterical and brilliant and sweet. There includes a break-up scene done with only eyes and expressions, showing the brilliance of these young actors and creative team. This scene is heartbreaking.
The costume designer deserves applause, a raise, and an Emmy. I will not try to describe the work; you have to see for yourself.
The writing, mostly done by Daniel Levy, is brilliant.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2020First time watcher.. love the show! Some reviews said that the second season in the set had the cuss words bleeped out but honestly it doesn't make a difference, I've only heard 2 bleeps out of the whole season. I'm surprised by how much I like the brother and sister characters, love Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy
- Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2022Love Schitt's Creek! Wish that I could get the rest of the seasons this cheap!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2017Possibly the funniest show I have ever seen! The writing is superb, the acting is sensational, and the story line is both hilarious and poignant. Even though it may not look like it, at the outset, it is ultimately about a very real family that loves one another. I look forward to the coming seasons and hope it is produced for a long time!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2020We LOVE this show!! And love the convenience of having the DVD! That way if there is a problem with the internet or anything we don’t have to worry about streaming...just pop in our favorite episode!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2017Want to watch something hilarious??? Right here is where it starts!!!! Absolutely the funniest comedy to hit television in AGES!!! I watch, laugh till I cry because it's the best actors and actresses to watch for a "clean" thirty minute HIT!!! I highly recommend everyone watch this outrageous comedy that I can't wait for every week!!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2018I LOVE the Rose's. If you are NOT watching this series, you are making a huge mistake! There is no other family better than the Rose's....now, if I could only join them for the holidays..... :) Jane
- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2018I would probably give this show 3 1/2 stars. Any time you have Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara onscreen, my expectations are high due to their being in SCTV, which is one of the greatest tv shows ever; as well as their appearances in excellent ensemble movies Best in Show, Mighty Wind, etc.
Schitt’s Creek is enjoyable enough, the cast is likeable; however, the storylines often fall flat. The funniest part of the series was the episode where 12 containers of raw milk are delivered.
The dynamic between Eugene Levy and Chris Elliot were often the most amusing moments. Another funny bit was Catherine O’Hara’s scat song, which revealed her amazing talent. The town sign was a funny bit. The son (Daniel Levy) and girl at the front desk were likeable, as was the daughter. The actor portraying the daughter is very good, but the two guys that were competing to be her boyfriend, I found to be very forgettable as well as the situations that were written for them.
All in all, the two seasons on this dvd are worth watching, even if they were not as laugh out loud funny as I hoped they would be. While watching, I kept thinking that I wished Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara had portrayed the parent characters as Bobby Bittman and Joey Heatherton, and the show had pushed the characters and situations into the cartoonish outrageousness of SCTV.

5.0 out of 5 stars most under rated comedy on television
have been a lover of comedy for many years this series was a revilation ,the writing and action is brilliant in that you like the characters even though in real life they would drive you crazy,if you get a chance watch, you wont be dissapionted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Hilarious.
This has to be one of the most hilarious comedies I've watched in a while. It's British style comedy - subtle and full of innuendoes and never raunchy or dirty. Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara are so good together and it's great to see them working together again. I miss SCTV very much. Dan Levy is hilarious - he certainly inherited his father's comedic abilities. One of my favourite characters in the series is Bob - I've met a few like him and he is so realistic. I can't wait until season 3 arrives.
This is a thinking person's comedy. If you're looking for laugh track, boilerplate American style "comedy", you'll be disappointed. But, if you're into dry humour which requires some brain involvement, this is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stoner series
I love this series, but not everyone will get on its wavelength.. You click into it or you don't. If you like Curb Your Enthusiasm or Portlandia, or It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, you'll hitch on right away, and you're in for a great ride. The whole series is 6 years. It's a cult thing, and I just love it love it, love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really talented cast and the hot girl from Monkeys is in it too.
This really grows on you. As the season develops and you get to know the characters the in-jokes become cleverer and clearer. Really talented cast and the hot girl from Monkeys is in it too. Levy senior and Levy junior especially are a joy to watch.
