My kid's high school no longer issues take-home textbooks; the physical books stay in class, and students have access to an online version. It's pretty frustrating to use an online textbook for homework or studying, and classroom notes only go so far. This isn't as complete as a real textbook and doesn't cover things as comprehensively as a beginner might need, but it's a decent addendum to other learning resources.

This book handled all 3 of my concerns: first, it gives my kid an opportunity to see chemistry concepts and problems explained in a different way than what he got in school; second, it's an easy-to use reference for homework; and last, it serves as a refresher for me (his reluctant tutor who learned Chemistry many years ago). I've used other "Dummies" books in the past, and found them all decent in covering their subjects, same for this edition.

    Received the book today.
    Yet to read Chemistry part.

    Requested exchange today.
There is physical copy problem (photos attached).

First one and half chapters of the actual Chemistry book, are missing from this copy.
Instead, three and half chapters from a different book ("Machine Learning for Dummies") are included at the beginning.

So, first 35-36 pages are "Machine Learning for Dummies" book pages.
From page 36-37, Chemistry starts suddenly from middle of chapter 2.
Even the "Table of Contents" is from "Machine Learning for Dummies" book.

I bought this for mu husband to test out of remedial chemistry in college. I took remedial chemistry because it was not my strongest subject and I did not have a thought to buy this book for myself! Time makes you wiser and I wish I had this to test out of it too! I looked it over when it arrived, page by page and it 100% takes care of EVERYTHING you need to know about introduction to chemistry. You don't need a background for this, it is designed for people who know little to nothing about chemistry.

If you are good at chemistry, but need a refresher, I would not recommend this. Buy Chemistry Essentials for Dummies instead. I also have that book for myself and it is a 1/4 the size of this book and it hits the MAIN points quick to click off your light-bulb! Hope this helps!

Chemistry was my only D grade for my GCSEs in 1996 so I wanted to correct my erroneous ways as a teenager which I believe I have accomplished. Chemistry is not too hard, although I am only studying for general knowledge. To truly grasp the mathematics and equations in detail would be a lot harder. The book is written well and is very clear. I have learned so much that I did not know before hand, such as atomic structure and the difference between nuclear fission and fusion. I highly recommend this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ci vuole anche un Chemistry for Super Dummies!
Reviewed in Italy on December 31, 2020
Cioè Chemistry for SUPER Dummies !
