- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2016I was excited to see a second album from this group, after buying and hearing their initial album about a year or so ago, I literally could not get my hands on this one, and was not disappointed in the least, as this one is as every bit as good, if not better than their first release. Every song is fantastic, I highly recommend this, especially if you enjoyed their first album.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2016This second album by the Earls of Leicester, Rattle and Roar, is another full ressurrection of Flatt and Scruggs (and company). Not to be such a "fan boy" but I can't write bad about any of the song selection. All tracks were a full enjoyment to listen to. From the time that "The train that took my girl from town" started playing. I was hooked! I recommend any Flatt and Scruggs fan to purchase this today.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2016The description does NOT mention the fact that there IS an included mp3 download card inside (not additional cost). This is a huge reason why I did NOT order this LP sooner. Would have been nice to know beforehand.
As far as The Earls 2nd LP goes...It's the best thing going from Jerry Douglas' Flatt/Scruggs tribute group. I hop the keep this thing going for a few more albums.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2020This is the second cd and didn't believe they could, but they made it better than the first one. If you are into bluegrass, get this cd.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2017Awesome band with the same sound of Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs!! My husband has this in the car CD player and it's played every time the car is cranked!! We heard them do this album in person and it's right on. If you love the sound of REAL BLUEGRASS then you've gotta have this album!!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2020I played 'Rattle & Roar' from beginning to the last song. Classic and Well done are understatements. Each song is expertly and soulfully played to perfection.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2016The playing and production values continue to be top-notch. But for me, the song selection doesn't quite hold up to their debut album. Waaah. Why am I complaining? This is gold and in steady rotation.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2017I'm sure this was a project of love and respect for the music of Flatt and Scruggs and the foggy mtn. boys. Wonderful to hear this timeless music recorded by such a group of stellar musicians. Saw them live in shelby nc, and it was the best bluegrass event I've ever attended. Great job!

5.0 out of 5 stars A walk in the past with future stars.
Great representation of music that seems is forgotten today in most circles. I closed my eyes and was transported back to my living room with the Opry coming from my radio with Flatt and Scruggs and Bill Monroe and The Blue Grass Boys on stage. Not to say they are clones but these Boys are either blood of the greats or must have lived the real life that this music draws from to take us home to real Bluegrass surrounded by Pearly Gates. Thank you for a walk back.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bluegrass au top

5.0 out of 5 stars The Earls Of Leicester do it again!
Splendido.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!
EXCELLENT CD. THIS IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT. GREAT MUSICIANSHIP, CHOICE OF SONGS AND EXCELLENT PRODUCTION. BLUEGRASS AT ITS VERY BEST.THE FIRST TRACK "THE TRAIN THAT CARRIED MY GIRL FROM TEXAS" STES THE LISTENER UP FOR THE REST OF THIS EXCELLENT CD. PRODUCED AND STARRING JERRY DOUGLAS WITH OTHER LUMINARIES AS BARRY BALES/SHAWN CAMP/DAN AUERBACH/CHARLIE CUSHMAN/JOHNNY WARREN AND JEFF WHITE THE PLAYING IS SUPERB. THEIR FIRST CD WAS EXCELLENT AND THIS FOLLOWS ON FROM THAT TRIUMPH.THIS CD IS A GREAT TESTAMENT FOR UP AND COMING BLUEGRASS BANDS OF THE FUTURE KEEPING THIS GENRE VERY MUCH ALIVE. RARELY OFF MY CD. ESSENTIAL PURCHASE.
