I have loved all of this author's books about Teilhard de Chardin. This one was especially good because it presented Teilhard's views on suffering. Never knew that he had made such explicit statements on the subject. As with all of Dr. Savary's writings, everything is well organized and presented with so much clarity. Found myself going back to certain parts & really reflecting on them. This is one of those books which I keep nearby. When I want to try to make sense of something negative or painful, it is the first place I look.

Am so looking forward to the release of his next book on Teilhard and Love!

I have always known of Fr. Teilhard, mostly by reputation, which leaves the radical insights of his work out of the conversation. This book, for me, answers the perennial question about why evil exists, and the answer is both simple and profound. This is a great entree into the mind and heart of someone who knows a great deal about the heart of God. Highly recommended.

Exceptional work for those who suffer as well as those who work with the suffering. Whether minor illness or terminal this book can be of great help. A great way to prepare for suffering in your own life. Very practical applications with examples and prayers for many situations. I plan on offering a study of the book in our church.

A very well done explanation of the stages of grief or should I say suffering. Had not thought about the stages - and that God does not want us to suffer.

Not a bad book, but poorly organized and could have used better editing. Also, the author used some trendy examples of suffering that struck me as silly. The middle part of the book was decent (despite some of the trendiness), but that was about it. If you have a book called "The Seven Stages..." of anything, then the book should be organized to reflect it. The first three stage seemed to get discussed over and over, before we finally moved on.

This was really a very lite version of Teilhard.

Lucid, connected writing, that makes it possible for the initiated reader to appreciate insights of de Chardin. Through his struggles, come new conceptions of suffering, not quite in the way the Buddhist sees it, but, elevating purpose in the Christ worldview. Jesuit extremsim or violence in the Jiddu Krishnamurty sense is also a reflection one may have. Well written book for sure.
