Editorial Reviews

Widely known as the front man of Black Veil Brides, Black's debut solo album carves a brash new place for the most distinctive voice in modern rock music, using all the tools of pop craftsmanship and lush arrangements available. This album was created in Southern California with mega-producer John Feldmann, who previously worked Panic! At The Disco, The Used, Good Charlotte, and Hilary Duff. BLACK is currently routing his first North American solo tour from March to July.

I spent a lot of time listening to this album on Spotify and decided to buy it because I love the music so much. Andy truly branched out in this album. Every song is diverse and has its own unique sound. It doesn't blur together even after several hours of listening. You can tell he put a lot of effort into this album. (Now if only my car radio worked so I could listen while i'm driving).

Wonderful music. Different from Black Veil Brides and my favorite album between "The Shadow Side" and "The Ghost of Ohio". I have listened to "Broken Pieces" probably 150 times now and I still love it just as much as the first time!

Andy, in this solo album, has put together (with the help of rock luminaries such as Gerard Way and Patrick Stump) an album of beautiful and inspiring songs, and also songs that are great to rock out to. "We Don't Have to Dance" is catchy and fun, "Put the Gun Down" leaves me in tears, and "The Void" inspires me to keep going in spite of many challenges. "Louder Than Your Love" was co-written with Gerard Way and featured Mikey Way on bass. Andy has a very deep, gorgeous voice that I can always listen to. Basically, I love every song on this album, and I hope he makes more solo albums in the future.

I was thoroughly impressed with this album. Very nice solo effort for Andy Biersack, was wondering at first but glad I went through with it. A lot of raw emotion in these songs, a slight detour from his typical BVB emo metal; but I'd honestly say I prefer this style for Andy. If anyone is intimidated by the Parental advisory stamp on this album; don't be its actually quite tame. Homecoming King (The 1st track) is by far the most vulgar but there isn't really an excessive amount of vulgarity in it. Most the other songs may have a word here or there but nothing like rap or hip hop. Overall a great and very emotional listen loved it all around!

Excellent album. Andrew Biersack has first rate vocals and even though quite young he is a well experienced artist and it shows. I liked pretty much every song from first play, Im sure that highly unsual for most, as it is for me. His music is widely available.. and even being a subscriber to music services myself, its not the same as a real CD. The sound is great in this CD.. Im not audiophile by any stretch but even at higher quality music services aren't all there.. it's hard to describe. This is why I got the CD.

Excellent album. Andy Biersack is extremely talented and such an inspiration! The album's sound is very unique - it features that rock 'n' roll feel, but also weaves pop in. Sometimes, it can be hard to put pop and rock together and make it sound good. Andy has done a wonderful job in putting the two together and making it sound so amazing. The songs are very meaningful and relatable. This is a great debut album and I'll definitely be buying any other albums Andy releases as Andy Black.

First off, I would like to say that I love Andy both as a person and as a musical artist. I wasn't sure what to expect from him doing a solo album but it was certainly intriguing to me! I ordered the album the day before it was set to release and I received it on the release date. The album includes the free MP3 version of the CD and the insert includes the song lyrics which is always nice! The songs themselves were... disappointing. None of the songs sound like something Andy would record. I know he had help from other musicians and it shows because on the songs when someone helped him it sounded like the helper themselves. Not only that but none of the songs went together. I can't quite put whom or what it reminded me of. Some sounded very techno-pop and one even sounded disco so there was quite the genre variety. I wouldn't say it sucked by any means though. I disliked all the songs but I will still support him on his quest to make solo music.

I ordered this the week it was released and it was played on repeat for the next two weeks in the house and car. My 3 1/2 year old daughter has 3 favorite songs that she has to listen to first and sings to them! I relate so much to much of what Andy sings and feel he genuinely gets it. I love BVB but I am loving Andy's The Shadow Side more right now. Do yourself a favor and give it a listen.

Great collection of artists working together on this album. If you're a Black Veil Brides fan you'll love to hear Andy's voice in these tracks, though stylistically I'd say this album is brighter and more "dancy" but still with the same amount of passion. I love it personally, but keep in mind that this isn't BVB, it's something completely different but in the best way possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Umwerfend schöne Melodien von einem grandiosen Künstler
