    About the Author

    Heather Prendergast has spent more than 25 years in small animal practice. She has a BS in animal science, Associate degree in Veterinary Technology, and she is a certified veterinary practice manager. She has taught several years for both veterinary technology and assistance programs. Heather provides consulting services for veterinary hospitals and Nestle Purina Pet Care. She was also an instructor for Patterson Veterinary University, VetMed Team, and St. Petersburg College. Heather served on several advisory committees, including the Bayer Animal Health Technician Advisory Council, Nestle Purina Senior Pet Advisory Committee and the AAHA Pet Nutrition Alliance Tools Committee.

    Very disappointed in this book. I've found quite a few incorrect answers THAT I KNOW OF. The one in the picture below I found out by chance because they are contradicting ... I would recommend getting a different book.

      Seriously highly recommend this book. i dont think you can pass the vtne without it! jk maybe you can but for real this book has helped me a lot. the only thing is that it doesnt provide explanations for the answers. but if you have the evolve code you can log on to there and take exams which is helpful and on the big 170 practice exam it provides explanations.

      I just took my VTNE. and all I can say is this book helped soooo much. I also used pocket prep which was way too easy compared to the actual test. I LOVED the online version of this book that had practice test that were very comparable with the actual VTNE.

      This book and the online resources were an excellent study tool. I first took the VTNE in 1999 (it was called something different back then) I passed and worked in the field for years, but allowed my license to lapse. Retook the exam this month and passed again. Buy it new, so you can use the code for the online resources - it is worth the expense.

I usually hate this style of studying, it was monotonous and awful, but it did help. I also purchased 3 other study aid books for the VTNE, and they were okay, but I recommend this one over the others due to the questions were very similar.

      The online version is better because it gives you explanations to answers and also creates practice tests for you. I try to go through 50 questions per day to help prep for the VTNE. However, I found quite a few wrong answers, answers that contradict the explanation that they provide, or questions where 2 right answers are listed. So always make sure to read through the explanation to make sure of the answer, and use your school books/notes as review too.
