The first thing I noticed was a very strong chemical smell when I opened the packages. This mostly dissipated after about 40 minutes in the air. There was no residual transfer of odor to my hands from handling them. I then bagged several of them in a plastic zip lock over night to see if the smell would get strong again. It didn’t but there is a very faint odor of chemical that has remained. The varnish maybe? These buttons are 2 and 7/16 inches across, 1/8 inch thick, very smooth feeling and flat on the back. The designs are painted on and can be scratched off with a fingernail. One button has a chink out of the wood but that is not uncommon in sets of wooden buttons. The designs are pretty. They can be used in a variety of crafts and others have posted pictures. I would use one on the front of a handmade bag or to embellish a hat or headband or shawl. Worth the price.

    I noticed most of the One Star reviews commented negatively on the size of these buttons. (being too big)

    They are 6cm diameter, which is about 2-3/8 inches in American. These were exactly the size I needed for a craft project. (Perhaps the seller should say 60mm instead of 6cm?)

    They were also a good price. I had been paying $3-4 each for buttons this size in a retail fabric store whose name rhymes with "snow man."

    Some reviewers complained that the buttons were broken, or the design paint was chipped off or smeared. I did not have this problem. My buttons were all in good shape.

    Other reviewers complained about a smell when they first opened the package. The buttons are made of resin, so there is a slight plastic like aroma, but not as bad as a lot of people described it, and it dissipates when the buttons are exposed to the air.

    So, if you need a large button, these are your huckleberry.
