Editorial Reviews
The UK's greatest cult band Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats return with their fourth album The Night Creeper and their biggest tour to date. Recorded at Toe Rag Studios in early 2015 with engineer Liam Watson (White Stripes, Tame Impala, Electric Wizard), The Night Creeper oozes touché evil. Here flesh-melting riffs that creep like hot magma bubbling through the earth's crust combine with an ear for melody born out of the bands love for girl groups like The Ronettes and the Shangri-La's. Sabbath-meets-Spector. It's a heady combination. Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats' breakthrough album Blood Lust (2011) was a homage to British Hammer and folk horror films of the 1970s, a candle-lit head trip of withered hands, ritual knives and gallows ropes. Mind Control (2013) looked further afield, to the post-Charles Manson US for inspiration: Jim Jones dosing the Kool-Aid. Blue Cheer, Blue Oyster Cult and B-movie biker movies. War, Watergate, serial killers and suicidal TV evangelists. And now comes The Night Creeper, their darkest journey yet.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2015While the band members were nearly anonymous as the members of Swedish psych rockers Ghost and Goat, they have somewhat stepped out of the shadows in the past year to the point where we know their names and can possibly even pick them out from pictures. But in keeping with their original intent, I don’t really care beyond the extent that the band are sufficiently talented and hairy, ’nuff said. The album kicks off with “Waiting For Blood,” a guitar sounding like a muscle car barreling down the highway, probably with a corpse in the trunk. It settles into a sinister groove with a touch of Hammond organ referencing early prog days, and a nimble guitar solo near the end inspired by more early 80s New Wave of British Heavy Metal shredders. “Murder Nights” continues the blood-splattered themes inspired by film noir and Italian Giallo crime thrillers. Have tunes about stabbing ever been so hummable? “Downtown” is highlighted by both a catchy, circular riff, and a minor key melody on top and female “oooh aaah” chorus that has such a cheesy haunted house vibe, you can tell the band have loosened up perhaps after the initial pressure of their early success, and are having a lot more fun than on their previous album. | Full Album Review - [...]
- Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2015WOW! Still undeniably great doomish tones and rhythms just ooozing out of these guys!!! Yet another masterpiece of truly dark, gritty and sinister music. A few people have said that this album isnt quite as good as their last couple, I totally disagree- listen to these guitar leads, they explode with passion and animosity, And over-the-top catchy guitar hooks like no one else does- Better than ever! Another excellent collection of mind-blowing catchy riffs, Sabbath drenched blues and morbid visions of painful endings. No, it isnt Blood-Lust. And it isnt Mind-Control. And it GD SHOULDNT BE! Those albums stand by themselves, as they are. To try and repeat them is shallow and stupid. Why make the same album again, if you can make a new one with the same dark passion that built the last records. If you wanna hear those records again, play them! But this record fits just fine with their last efforts and is another gritty representation of everything that most heavy music is missing these days; Unc is simply a group of guys with sincere passion, and a true love of the music they create. Excellent job Unc, Im a fan for life!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2015Though i feel the songs are strong, and a couple could surpass those on other releases, i am tired of this band's horrid production. yeah, i know, that's their intent, their 'concept', bro, their almost hipsterish art-object: it should be clear enough by now, after i don't know how many albums... still, it brings me down when instead of allowing myself the pleasure of getting lost in the rocking grooves, all my mind produces is an image of someone watching a police story or a grade B horror movie thru a small and barely functional black and white tv set... a couple of cheap pulp novels on the table, stale coffee in a cup, the loneliness of urban midnight.. yes, that's my perception and it's obviously subjective, since most people are enjoying this recording as it is, and that's cool... BUT, hey Uncle Acid dudes, your music's got a lot more going on, beautiful and haunting melodies, vocals, harmonies, guitar parts, riffs (though i do feel you're beginning to get stuck in a rut some like to call 'formulaic'. not yet, but maybe next time things will have to take a left turn? kinda like sabbath's about-face come 'sabbath bloody sabbath', after four great yet similar albums)... ok, i know 'lo-fi' is a growing trend, and i sometimes enjoy it, just like everybody else (my faves? probably mudhoney, ty segall, the traps, electric wizard, etc), so if this cheap sound is what you were striving for, who am i to stop you? plus at least you do not sound all 'fake-organic-yet-digital-as-all-hell', like pentagram's new (and otherwise outstanding) opus... but at least mix it powerfully, i beg of you: make it LOUD, so i don't have to turn my stereo all the way up to sort of feel the songs' magic (and believe me, it is there- that's why i'm giving 'the night creeper' four stars here). still, i'm a huge fan, 'mind control' is a desert-island lp for me, this one rocks too (songwriting-wise) and i wanna catch you live before i die! beware he!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2015just coming from a fan, I'd say this is their worst. Pretty forgettable. I still somewhat enjoy it though because I love me some uncle acid, but it's just the same old, same old....and not the good ac/dc kind
Update!!! About 30 minutes later - this album is amazing. Gave it another spin. Uncle acid came into my dreams and made me like it!!!
Oh and FYI - this band has the coolest website ever
- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2015I started listening to Uncle Acid all the way back when Blood Lust came out. And each album seems to be getting better and better starting with Vol. 1.
Now. I liked The Night Creeper. It's a good album. It has plenty of strong songs on it. But personally, if I were to rank it I'd put it just above Blood Lust but right beneath Mind Control. But not by much.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2016I can't stop playing Melody Lane. What an awesome song. This is Uncle at it's best. A friend showed me the video and I had to have the album. This is a great album to introduce yourself Uncle Acid. It's dark but not depressing. Crank it up get wasted and play video games. What a way to spend a night.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2015Sounds like John Lennon singing with Black Sabbath (or maybe Blue Cheer)... and it works quite well. The blood and guts lyrics are kind of hokey, but the songs are really good and there is plenty of heaviness to go around. "Melody Lane" is a standout track, as good as anything Sabbath ever did.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2019It has a clear sound and it oozes the filth and sludge that makes Uncle Acid so unique.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great set!
Another great collection of songs from this mysterious but prolific band. A loose concept based around vice, crime, narcotics, murder, and police corruption in Victorian London. If you like Psych, Stoner, Doom, etc, etc, this is def. the band for you. A great live act as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars Disco hard rock dell'anno
Tracce imprescindibili: Waitinf for Blood, Pusher Man e Melody Lane.

4.0 out of 5 stars Uncle Acid の日本盤
Uncle Acidの日本盤、今回も発売されて驚きです。前作もそうですが日本盤が発売されるだけでもありがたい。海外でも人気が出てきているので、帯マニアは日本盤をオススメします。内容的は個人的には前作より、やや失速?
