    Together with the Allman Brothers Band, the Charlie Daniels Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Marshall Tucker Band were the leading lights of the Southern Rock movement during the 1970s. Their first six studio albums were all top-notch releases and this CD provides an excellent overview of their work from that period. The boys from Spartanburg, South Carolina were all first-rate musicians. Toy Caldwell was a fine guitarist and a wonderful songwriter and Doug Gray possessed one of the most soulful voices ever committed to acetate. The band's magical blend of rock, country, blues and jazz ensured they gained many accolades and a loyal following. This CD is a good place to start for those wishing to hear the band for the first time. It's also a great reminder of how good the Marshall Tucker Band were for those who already have all their original albums. Recommended.
