Editorial Reviews
This 5-song Celtic-metal masterpiece from Canadian artist Leah takes you from the stormy shores of an ancient era.. to fantasy landscapes.. to the battlefield of love and loss. Cinematic character vocals from metal god Eric Peterson (Testament/Dragonlord) leave you electrified in his wake with an 'echo's breath, a romance death!; Otherworld is where the ethereal and the brutal collide.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2018Each of Leah's albums is an entire world unto itself. I found Of Earth and Angels to be rather eclectic. Otherworld is different, and very well titled. My first foray into this sort of music was 1991 when a friend introduced me to Enya. Her music helped me survive the roughest, darkest period of my life. Leah is the next logical step. It's got a certain similarity to Enya's music - ethereal, otherworldly - but Leah has a style all her own, which also makes her music quite distinctive from Enya's. I love "The Northern Edge," but her take on the poem "Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep" was breathtaking, and I've left instructions with my eldest daughter that it is to be played at my funeral or, so help me, I will crawl out of my coffin and take vengeance! Joking, of course... well, sort of ;) The final track, "Dreamland," is ethereal and Enya-like, yet it also has very metal elements. One wouldn't think those would go together, but Leah makes it work. Another Triumph!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2014I have only recently discovered the very wonderful music of Leah McHenry. I got all three of her albums and have really enjoyed listening to them. I heard it called Celtic Metal or Symphonic Metal. I'm not really into all those labels but I can see how the music has earned those classifications. I'm sorry that it's taken me so long to find it, but I expect to be buying more as she puts them out. She's got a YouTube channel [...] and a facebook page: [...] where you can find out more about her upcoming album.
This is a great album too. I was fairly disappointed with the song that has Eric Peterson on it, but her singing makes it worth listening to despite that. I only wish the album was longer. I understand that she's got a longer album in the works. I'm excited to get to hear it.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2013It is, in some ways, a disservice to compare an artist to others. Each have their own distinction and uniqueness. However, in order to give folks a referential peg on which to hang their imagination's hat, a comparison can hopefully be forgiven. To that end, the work of new artist LEAH, to me, combines the very best of her predecessors in modern Celtic-oriented music: Loreena McKennitt and Balckmore's Night.
Her first album, Of Earth & Angels, was a symphony of Celtic rock, resonating with Medieval imagery and magical undercurrent. Her new work, Otherworld, continues her musical developmental journey with more emphasis on harmony and evocative emotional spirit, with strains of metal at moments of profound reinforcement adding "punch" to the message.
LEAH's vocal range is dynamic and moves from soft songs of inner peace to powerful anthems of tragedy and triumph with equal deftness and artistry.
I look forward to more outstanding music from this gifted young artist.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2017I'm not sure which one I liked better. The otherworldly sound is awesome. I put all three on a music DVD with PCM quality (made with a computer app.) so that I can listen to them on any of my DVD players connected to a sound system.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2014This is a great album (EP really). Great vocals, good music. Melodic metal is probably my favorite genre. If you like metal on the heavier side you may not like this, but if you like melody and metal, and sometimes just melody, then you'll enjoy this album.
Every song carries an emotional punch and I find myself being pulled into them.
Shores of your Lies and Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep are quieter songs but great music, lyrics and vocals. The others are more on the metal side with a definite Celtic vibe. Dreamland has some grunt vocals, but they fit with the song and don't spoil it at all.
This is my first Leah album, but not my last.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2017LEAH has a beautiful voice, and the music on this album is very lovely, and more than worth the purchase! She has a voice like Amy Lee of Evanescence, lovely & powerful, enchanting, sweet, and other-worldly! I would highly recommend this album, and all of her other albums, for those who enjoy ethereal music!!! :-D

5.0 out of 5 stars An Otherworld enchanting!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Angelic Voice with a Metal Twist
Multi-talented LEAH has been called "the Metal Enya", and that is definitely a fitting description. Her music is firmly grounded in Celtic tradition, and her voice is refreshingly beautiful, but traditional instruments like Celtic harp and strings sometimes go together with intense guitars. It's a surprisingly effective mix, even enchanting, and I find myself wanting to listen to it more and more! Check it out!
