Product description

Picture book for toddlers is a fun and educational app for children between the ages 0-3 years. Through sight and sound there are 115 different words and items to get acquainted with. Your child will easily progress through the action by dragging on the screen. When you click on an animal, a vehicle or another item it gets animated and its special sound is played, for example a dog barking. A voice will reveal the name of the item displayed.

In Guess the Item, 4 different images are shown and a voice will ask the child to locate a certain item, for example "Where is the airplane?".
If the child taps the correct item, it gets animated and its special sound is played.

The images are divided into 8 different categories:
- Animals
- Vehicles
- Music
- Fruit
- Clothing
- Colors
- At Home
- Guess The Item

The interface is well defined, interactive and excellently designed to suit small children - all in English.

Kids games are a great way for the child and parent to have a fun time together, while learning something along the way. Toddlers quickly learn to use this application by themselves and then it can be used to keep a toddler occupied during a car trip or any time when the parents want some peace and quiet.

Picture Book For Toddlers is a free game. All images are of great picture quality and contain cars, animals, trains, musical instruments and much more. The game is best suited for kids aged 1, 2 or 3 years old and is a great way to learn words and sounds of different objects.

Our 18 month old loves this game. After a couple of weeks of playing it, he can quickly identify all of the animals. He gets especially proud when the game congratulations him and claps after guessing a certain number correctly. If you purchase the full version, some of the other categories are a little harder for a small child (like the musical instruments), but you can select exactly which categories you would like to see.

The basic concept of the game is that 4 different pictures are presented. The child is then asked by the app to choose a specific picture. After so many correct guesses, the game congratulates the child. In the free version, the only category available is animals. In the full version, there are additional categories like fruit, vehicles, instruments, and more.

The in-app purchase of the full game did not come through. The purchase was made as "All Categories" instead of "Picture Book for Toddlers". That means the full version DOES NOT play in "free time" mode. That makes this game worthless.
I called Amazon App Support and they walked me through a re-download, just to make sure it wasn't user error, but it did not work the second time either.
The app is cool, but useless if you want the full version.

I got this app for my three year old daughter.

It's a great app, but I am knocking one star off for being advertised for free when it really isn't. There are several different categories in this picture book and one game, but only the animal category and a partial version of the game is free. That won't keep your child entertained for very long. If you want to unlock all of the other categories and more pictures in the game, you will have to pay for it.

The categories consist of topics such as animals (the only free one), vehicles, music, fruit, and so on. You select a category and are presented with a picture. The pictures are of real animals and real items and they are great quality photos. Let's just say you select the animal category. Then you are presented with a picture of a pig (full screen photo). You tap it, and a man's voice says, "Pig," and then a sound of a real pig oinking plays. Then you swipe the screen and are presented with the next animal, and so on. Some of the other categories make sounds too, like music and vehicles (you can hear the sounds of each instrument and the sounds, like zooming or sirens, of each type of vehicle). I like that this app includes real photos and real sounds, rather than cartoon images and fake sounds. This part of the app is great for learning object/animal identity, sound identity, and language.

The game that this app has is a picture of four of the items from the picture books (for example: a fox, a truck, a banana, a bear). It will say, "Find the fox." Your child will select the photo of the fox. If he selects the wrong photo, a red X will appear on the photo he selected and he will have to choose another one. Once you select the right picture, you swipe the screen and are presented with the next set of photos and you play again.

My three-year-old loves this app. Every day since I bought it, she has asked to play it. Her favorite category happens to be the free one (animals) but she likes the others too. She is at an age where she already knows a lot of the animals and items on the app, but it has still taught her to identify the sounds and images of things she didn't know, such as particular instruments. The app is well-made and it is easy enough for her to use without my help (and she's not one of those children who has a lot of experience with tablets and apps).

I recommend this for small children, toddlers, and babies. It's a great way for them to learn to identify items and sounds, and it's a great way for them to learn some language. It's simple enough for babies (if you help them work the app) and complex enough that small children will still learn a lot.

This book is so great. The pictures are beautiful and intriguing and the sounds are realistic and clear. I don't like for my girls to use the tablet just yet but this has been a great addition to our story times and I even feel comfortable giving it to them to flip through in the kids mode on my Kindle. So happy I found it!

The animals portion of this app--which is what you get for free--is good. Tons of pictures of real animals with real animal sounds. Exactly what I was hoping for. But the other sections--music, vehicles, etc.--are locked and require an on-air purchase of 2.99. Fine, it's worth it four 19 month old. BUT, on-air purchases DO NOT carry over to FreeTime, nor can you make them there (a fact discovered after my purchase), which seems ridiculous both on Kindle's part and the developer's. If all sections were available to FreeTime, I'd have given this 5 stars. But since I want educational apps that I can give my son to occupy him so I can do dishes and cook dinner and whatnot, the limited toddler-friendly access to this specifically toddler app is disappointing.

Use this for my kids at daycare to learn objects. We play guess the object. They are learning so much. I wish there were more words but one of the best toddler apps around. I also love that it lets them pay until they guess the item correctly. Well designed. The kids love it and are learning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Für Zweijährige ideal
