Beware, as you read this-don't think "what does this have to do with OneDrive?" * Just wait 'till you see the 'BOTTOM LINE' (pun intended) Having been part of Computer Technology since the early 1970's, the 'Technological Changes' have occurred at a staggering pace. Since 'Tablet Technology' showed up in the early years of the 21st Century, I 'jumped' on board with the first gene Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" - Running Android version 1.2. The Galaxy Tablet Technology was/has continued to be among the most robust, durable, and long lived related to specifications. But «PRIMARILY» what must be known is that throughout the years, the Operating Systems have 'ESSENTIALLY' remained the same with comparison and contrast between 'TWO'. From the early 'days' of the Large 'Footprint' Mainframe Computers there have been TWO; {Apple MAc & Windows}. I have 'always' prefered Microsoft Windows and what I see today - & - predict for the FUTURE - is the SAME TWO OPERATING SYSTEMS RELATED TO TABLET TECHNOLOGY. WITH I.O.S. holding the Apple might, while Android takes the Microsoft Windows slot. I haven't 'touched' a Desktop or Laptop in 'MANY' years, and simply haven't found the necessity - as all of my 'Computing Needs' are met quite nicely by running 'APPS' on my Quasi-Android {Tablet} Device of choice - THE KINDLE FIRE HDX, RUNNING an Android/Variant around O.S. Version 4.5.5. Remember the days when a $2,000 Laptop became 'obsolete', virtually-ONLY good for a 'paper-weight' after 2-4 years from purchas date. Now the 'Super Grand-Daddy' of Tablet Technology with 'Specifications': «Superlative Graphics* [4d, Color, Clarity], Phenominal Sound* [Dolby Surround Plus], Operating Speed* ['Warping' via Quad-Core Processor], and All of the RAM and Storage you could ever need. {Price tag * with Warrenty for accidental breakage around $400}. And the 'COUP DE GRAS', it is NEVER OBSOLETE, BECAUSE THE OPERATING SYSTEM IS SIMPLY AN *UPDATE* bringing your device up to the same level [from the date purchased - perpetually, as if you walked in and bought one that day]. Of course if you really feel the "need" to run 'Pure Windows', there are a plethora of devices from 'Chromebooks' to 'ALL-IN-ONE's' that combine 'touch screen technology with the more 'traditional' Laptop/Types which are 'WAY MORE EXPENSIVE', and Since Android tablets have the capabilities to print, upload, download, zip/unzip, document(all via use of apps) stream data over WiFi, connectivity to 'Bluetooth'-frankly, I don't see the benefit. I am convinced that TABLET TECHNOLOGY WILL RENDER ALL OTHER COMPUTER FUNCTIONALITY [DEVICES] OBSOLETE DUE TO THEIR USER FRIENDLY, INCREASINGLY ROBUST AND DURABLE TECHNOLOGY BY THE YEAR 2020 IF NOT SOONER.
BOTTOM LINE: HAVING THIS ALL SAID, THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE APP ONEDRIVE. I HAVE USED MICROSOFT ONE TECHNOLOGY SINCE I WAS USING A LAPTOP. MY ONEDRIVE CLOUD NOW HOLDS PICTURES ACCESSIBLE FROM MY KINDLE TABLET DATING BACK TO 1997. 'Nuff said?'
...okay, I have been with the Android Platform for years. Even longer than I've been a Prime member. Things have changed over the years. But one thing has stayed constant; Amazon. As the other powerhouses scrambled to stay viable, they've also become so competitive, that there is no longer ANY pretence of benign intent.. instead, they've become ...RUTHLESS is the word that comes to mind. I have recently become an Apple Eater. Yes, hard to believe I know. But I've come back from the Dark side. When I went over to the iPhone, the first thing I noticed was, I became invisible. After a few days toying with my iPhone 7s+...I found that my old "home" at Amazon was gone!!? They didn't even know me! I had to reregister and reaffirm. AND, when I returned to my NEW home in the Apple orchard, they didn't recognize me either! And once again, I found myself having to reregister. I thought to my self: am I going to have to do this forever? Apple allowed me to download an app or two from my beloved Amazon. Apple even let me keep my massive music collection!? I was wary at first...I was like the stray dog that had been kicked to many times... Apple let me keep my identity!! But EVERY TIME I WENT BACK TO VISIT, when I made the roundtrip again, I had become a ghost. Again..and again. NOW, I'll spare you the rest and just tell you what's happened. This app allowed me to use my new Apple core (bad pun?...sorry) without being shut out, AND, when I went home to where my roots started, instead of the ghost town, I found that a back door had been left unlocked at Amazon, and the porch light left on...just for me. I can NOW travel back and forth without losing my place in either basket. No more third degree. Only one small thing; Azon still can't remember my new phone number...
My biggest complaint with OneDrive cloud program on my computer is that it hogs all of my high speed internet and there is no way to limit the amount of band width (or whatever) that it uses. I have to put OneDrive cloud program syncing on standby while I use the internet on my Dell computer. The OneDrive app is used online so it works fine on my tablet or mobile phone. With the new Microsoft products, I am not very knowledgeable about computers and I find the apps and programs confusing. When I look at the "window" or screen on my computer I see icons and I do not know which is an app and which is a program icon. I thought that my internet provider (unlimited landline) was at fault when our Netflix or access to the internet via tablets, computers or mobile phones cut out. I found out by accident that the OneDrive cloud program was causing the problems. Now, I always click off the Wifi on my computer when it is not in use. I pause syncing of OneDrive cloud program when I need to work via the internet on my computer. Hopefully, there will soon be a fix by Microsoft for this problem.
I am an iPhone user. I did not purchase an iPad APPLE because it is too expensive, and decided to give a try to the newest FIRE 8 HD tablet (7th generation). In general, the FIRE tablet is great as a reader (which is my main need) and for many other applets (Netflix, Amazon video, Amazon Drive, etc.), BUT it is VERY POOR for the FACEBOOK and YOUTUBE applets. If FIRE operating system (OS) wants to compete with other great OS such iOS apple or Android, they need to improve these two applets ASAP: FACEBOOK and YouTUBE. These two applets in the FIRE OS are terrible!!! Low quality image resolution, it is not HD, and they are not user Friendly. In addition, the Bluetooth is also terrible: non-sense way to pair with my HD Samsung TV, with iPhone I pair it in a second but with the FIRE OS. For these two applets and Bluetooth connection to my TV, I still have to keep using my great IPhone 7!! Thanks.
Using on Amazon Fire 10 Straight forward App which allows easy access to your OneDrive files Installed quickly and very intuitive to use Has options to view by Folders & Files, Shared Items, Photos or Recent Files on the Home page. Ability to view files on the tablet in PDF and other formats
This is the third tablet that I have. Comparing to the Samsung Tablet, sound is acceptable when compare with Samsung, although the output volume is lower. Don't forget the price difference between this 2 tablets. As I am using it for you tube and internet browsing, it meets all my requirements. Besides, it offers a virus protection software after download the app.
