    I got these for some ancient doors where I live that had nothing in the holes.

    As for MY doors, the Cone part Mushrooms when I try to press them in, so to make them actually work I file down the top of the cone. This way they go in fine with a push from a phillips head screwdriver and the small edge that's left keeps them from slipping out. This way they work perfect for MY doors. YMMV!!!

    I tried oil to lube, it didn't work .
    I tried cutting a little on top of the cone, hoping it would catch like a screw. Didn't work.
    Full pressure with a phillips head just pops right through.

    This is perfect for my 1990 vintage metal door frames. They are a bit bigger than ones Home Depot sells that fell out of the hole. Install with a small Allen Wrench inserted in the hole after cutting the old one off.
