    Edit - the below is still accurate as of 07/08.

    MSFT and Amazon announced cloud gaming coming to select Amazon Firesticks (Firestick 4K and 4K Max) in "July" of 2024. As of the writing of this review, the app is currently not available on these devices.

    It is entirely possible that it will go live later in the month, but there are no official go-live dates from Amazon, Microsoft, or media sources beyond the stated "July". The official announcement and most news sources heavily implied July 1st, and the lack of any clarification is certainly frustrating.

    I'll edit the review when/if the app becomes available as announced. I'm sure it'll be 5 stars, as the Xbox cloud gaming I've done on other devices has been great.

    I really love the idea of second screen gaming add-ons. Even though there aren't that many available yet for games the companion apps are amazing that I have used. I can see the future in this and the types of things that could be implemented to really add interesting gameplay options. Dead Rising 3 has a pretty impressive companion app available through the Xbox One app. It adds a real time map and access to extra missions and briefings without having to pause the game which is incredibly helpful. Battlefield 4 has two companion apps although only the in-game Xbox One app accessible companion is available on Kindle Fire HDX. It also provides a real time map. There is a Commander app available on the Google Play store and the iTunes store that allows players to play in commander mode. The Battlelog site accessible on the web lets players log onto servers, change loadouts, and has many other features. Back to the actual app being reviewed. I like the app because I can see who is online and send messages without having to exit my game plus it lets players view most of the other basic home page information. Players can start games and use the app as a remote control for video playback also. Considering how early in the lifecycle of the console this app is it really stands out as a useful add-on to the Xbox One. It can only get better as time goes on and considering the fact that it is free it can't be beat as a cheap way to avoid buying a remote or using your controller when not gaming. I hope more people start getting into second screen gaming apps so that the industry sees it as an actual good investment of time and money. I highly recommend this app based on its usefulness and added value in the game world.
