Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida' was a delightful buy for me. I didn't make it a point to start buying all of their albums until about two years ago... though I've always liked what I 'd heard/seen of them from radio, TV, internet, etc. So I purchased this album, having already heard their newest 'Mylo Xyloto' and all the others, wanting to hear it in the order they originally placed the songs in, because I feel it's the best way to get a feel for what any artist wants to portray that particular album as.
When I began listening to this album, I was entirely refreshed on what type of band I always thought Coldplay was. While a lot of fans argue that this album is the one when they took a jog from their original sound, and didn't like this new approach... I was taken aback at the soaring orchestral rhythms in the ever-popular title track and my personal favorite of the album: "Yes", along with the feel good tracks of "Life In Technicolor", "Lovers in Japan", and "Strawberry Swing", and then the ballads of "Lost!' and "Cemeteries of London" hit just the right heartstrings on my musical heart.
I'd already marked the X&Y album as my favorite set of songs, lyrically speaking.
But the further I examined Viva La Vida, the more I realized that never had I ever before said to myself whilst listening to Coldplay, "Wow! Did you hear that awesome violin in their?" or "I wish I had this track with music only" ... and these things I have said to myself after listening to this album.
Here's my conclusion:
Viva La Vida is my favorite Coldplay album when it comes to stepping up their musical ability.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2014This album may just be the Viva album and the Prosket's March EP together, and that EP is just the "trash" from the Viva sessions and some remixes. But this set is perfect for a true Coldplay fan. I bought it because I wanted the Prospekt's March EP in a physical CD, but the EP alone was more expensive than this set, so I thought that it was a good idea to spend the money, and it was a good choice.
Songs:
-Life In Technicolor II In my opinion this song is way much better than the Viva one. Instrumentaly and lyricaly.
-Postcards From Far Away A really simple piano piece, that inspires you.
-Glass Of Water A masterpiece, in fact Chris' favorite song. A great combination of guitar, durms, bass and piano at the end.
-Rainy Day At first it sounds like a weather forecast song, but then it becomes a vey powerful song with great lyrics.
-Prospekt's March/Poppyfieds Really calm song don't know why it didn't make the cut for the Viva album.
-Lost + It's the song Lost! with Jay-Z's rap in the end.
-Lovers In Japan (Osaka Mix) It's Lovers In Japan without the hidden track "Reign Of Love".
-Now My Feet Won't Touch The Ground A great ending for the EP.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2015I really like this album! Its got really nice string arrangement in a bunch of songs. If you like a cold rush to the head or x and y ,you will like this one! Its more orchestral in certain areas. Not to much drumming but its peaceful to listen to.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2022Sure, there are plenty of other Coldplay albums that I love but I feel like overall, this is their best work. The band is simply firing on all cylinders here with every track hitting as hard as the last.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2011Coldplay certainly hit their stride with this their fourth album. The songs sound more confident and more purposeful than before, stamping and punching the air like they mean it. Once again the finest songs are not the singles. 'Lost' and 'Yes' resonate and etch a indelible mark on the long term memory banks.
The addition of the Prospekts March EP is a further embelishment of the quality of the album sessions, with songs like 'Glasses of Water' and 'Life in Technicolor II' sounding as essential as those on the full album. However I remain unsure as to the completeness of the works, and a little perturbed that I have to listen to what are in effect slight variations to the same theme.
However the disjointed arrangement does not diminish what's accomplished - 5 stars from me. =)
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2022In a sum a lot of music today seem to be missing content. This one is not a oneliner or meaningless.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2009Viva La Vida is a great CD, but I wasn't really sure how the Prospekt March Edition would hold up. I was pleasantly surprised. Some of the tracks seem to be a real departure from Coldplay's usual style. "Lost (With Jay-Z)" is bashed by a lot of people, but I really respect that Coldplay just wanted to do something different (although I DIDNT respect that they allowed swearing in this album - I was really surprised. Rainy Day is probably my favorite track on the Prospekt's side... it's just so upbeat you can't help but love it. Really, if you like Coldplay, this is probably their best collection yet.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2017Wonderful. I love having both the CD and the main EP together. I planned to just get prospekts march sicne I have viva la vida from a long time ago, but it was fairly cheap to have both (plus the prospekts marches that I found alone didnt look great)

5.0 out of 5 stars Il miglior album dei Coldplay

5.0 out of 5 stars Bon pour ceux qui aiment Coldplay !
Bon produit

5.0 out of 5 stars Genial!
Como siempre, un placer escuchar a este grupo.
"Redondo" como varios de sus discos. Sus letras y música nunca deben faltar en la banda sonora de nuestras vidas. Qué VIVA!
