- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2020I live in a town with extremely hard water that clogs up everything. After installing a tankless hot water heater over a year ago I needed to descale my unit. I mixed up a quart with a gallon of water (1:4 ratio) and using a sump pump recycled it for 45 minutes. There was immediate hard water deposits that came out but over the 45 minutes all of those deposits dissolved into clear liquid. I'm certain that the inside of my unit is squeaky clean.
I have seen reviews were people think this eats their metal but metals other than copper do not hold up over time. I suspect this descaler removes the deposits and rust exposing the weak components.
I am very happy with the quality of this product.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2020I have used Whitlam Flow-aide Solution for several years to clean and flush my electric tankless water heater. I use a half-gallon diluted with one-and-a-half gallon of water and run it through a submersible pump for 45 minutes. Then I flush out the five-gallon bucket and repeat the process a second time. This stuff works real well. I have high calcium water and this product flushes all the deposits out of my water heater. My water heater has been running efficiently now for close to seven years. Excellent product.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2024Good price per gallon
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2020My plumber used this to service water heater and descale the boiler. I bought some to try on hard water deposits on the shower wall and all the sink and shower fixtures. This is the best stuff! Put about 1/4 cup in a SS bowl and add 3 drops or so of good dish soap such as Dawn, then put about 3/4 cup of warm water. Use a latex glove and dip a scrubby in and wipe on faucets and go over for about 30 seconds. If thick deposits, let it sit for a minute and then repeat. Then wipe off with a wet cloth. This stuff is so much better than any other way to do it!! May not be the purpose on the label, but boy does it work.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2016I used to use vinegar to flush my tankless hot water heaters. I began having a flow issue and was told about this product by a plumber. I gave it a try and my flow increased dramatically making me believe this is a far superior product to use than vinegar. It is quite a bit more expensive but I feel the cost is justified for the results observed.
Update 9/28/2017.
I've been meaning to use this again. I typically try to flush my tankless every 6 months. It's been a year and I just got done with the flush. I was shocked how much crap came out after flashing for 45 minutes. I'm a believer!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2017Didn't know you needed to descale a tankless water heater on a regular basis. My builer never said anything about it and when I asked him, he hadn't heard of it. I had two reputable plumbers tell me that it should be done and the one told me not to waste my money and pay him to come to my house, just order the kit and the solution on line and do it myself. My mechanically inclined nephew did it for me but he had to install some cut off valves. Apparently, the instructions pasted on the tankless water heater says to install cut off valves when installing the tank, however, the plumber that our building used decided he knew better and therefore did not.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2021I use this product to clean my tankless hot water boiler, it saves me money, Hiring a tech to clean it is usually around $200 With Flow aid and a pump I can do it once every 5 months for under $40.00, So I decide to buy a gallon which will last a year or so which is a big saving, paid $66 for a gallon and use only 32oz each time which by the time I used it all I saved about $8.00 than if I bought one at a time. so if you have to flush out your tankless hot water system save yourself money get a pump for under $65 and Flow-Aid and stop paying the high price for a tech to do it.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2018This stuff works. Cleans out tankless water heater very well. Wife and I bought a new house a few years ago, tankless water heater stopped working a few months later. Replaced it, read all about maintenance, and use this stuff every 6 months. Gunk comes out in bucket every time I use it, water heater is kept clean and efficient. Believe tankless water heater will last longer if I use this stuff 2x a year like clockwork. Previous owner never used this, we do, I believe it will be a gamechanger for tankless heater.
