Tips for Blower Installation
My old Blower was frozen motionless in my 20 year old Kenmore (aka Frigidaire) gas dryer. Blower has built-in 7/8" plastic nut (reverse thread) with a metal nut embedded in the plastic. Socket drive (clockwise) would not loosen the nut. Had to chisel it out to expose metal nut. The metal nut was also fused to the motor spindle. See photo. I tried to cut the nut off with a dremel tool, but the metals were melted together. So motor was kaput, too. LUBE the spindle threads before you install the new blower to hopefully prevent the threads of the nut and the motor fusing together. Make sure you insert the Blower tabs (feet) into the cabinet holes before securing the Blower with its two screws. Dryer is now very quiet...

    Had a squeaking noise present on initial startup and eventually developed into non-stop noise making the dryer very audible. The motor shaft had slipped on the blower molding, resulting is poor drying or not drying at all.

    Install while "easy" might be considered more involved than desired for some. Following a YouTube video on this process will cover all bases and considerations. If you're lucky the motor shaft hasn't slipped and removal of the nut on the shaft will be easy. Mine was seized and require removal of the tub/belt/motor assembly. Which offered an opportunity for an in-depth cleaning.

    New blower assembly resolved all noise and drying issues, functions as intended without fault for ~3 months and going.

    Fit and works perfecltly now! This is a design weak spot for Frigidaire (and other brand dryers that use the same part) dryers. The fan/blower wheel inside develops cracks near the shaft and the result is a sound that permeates the dryer masking where the sound is coming from. The sound to me was like that of the rear drum bearing failing. I replaced the plastic cup and greased my rear drum bearing but that wasn't it. (Although I do recommend at least greasing it with a good white lithium grease while you have the dryer apart if necessary.) While you have the front of the dryer look for the cracks on the blower wheel. If you have cracks, replace this part. You will be glad you did. My dryer is working fine now for around $60.
