Such a cute idea but it’s so disappointing

Such a cute idea but it’s so disappointing
My son was so excited to build this and try it, and when we opened it we realized it didn’t come with any of the seeds or soil, which is really annoying. Then when we were putting it together at the instructions were super confusing and I still don’t know if we put the bag together correctly. It has quite a few extra pieces, which again is confusing and annoying. It wasn’t crazy expensive so not worth my time to return it, so maybe we’ll still try and use it but the quality is pretty sad if I had paid five dollars or less I wouldn’t be nearly as annoyed, but this is basically a bunch of plastic junk with bad advertising 😕. It might still be cute, once it’s done… But I would skip this and look for a better quality one, or build one yourself out of some simple materials… Maybe we will try that when we have more time. We could cut up some boxes and use saran wrap or something. Definitely disappointing

Worked like a dream! Smaller than I expected (about 8-10 inches tall, including water base and 1.5 inches deep), but it worked perfectly in my class. The only thing I did was wrap additional paper around the sides to keep the light out... the black paper provided seemed to small to waste a trial on. Easy to knock over (learned that the hard way, lol), due to being only about 1.5 inches deep and 4-5 inches wide)... Despite what seems to be complaints I would totally buy this again, because it WORKS!

My son bought this for his Montessori classroom in honor of his 8th birthday. His classmates and teachers really enjoyed the experiment and were able to transfer the seedlings into the school garden.
I believe this will be a material they use for a number of years.

It's just the maze, and it's flimsy and frustrating to put and keep together. The black cover is just cardstock, and you're supposed to snap a piece of the top over it to hold it in place, but there isn't space for that, so you'll end up using tape to make some doors. The brown side of the maze lets enough sunlight in for the beans to be satisfied where they are. The covers for the top are not connected, they just sit there.

On top of all this, you provide your own seeds, cotton, and spoonfuls of potting or seed starting soil. I knew that going in, but my son found it weird since most gardening kits and terrariums provide at least a small packet of seeds and a baggie of soil or coir. If you're providing your own supplies, you could make a better, sturdier one with Lego.

Much smaller than I thought it would be and the bean didn’t grow. It was a disappointment.

Will try again by having it start growing in another container and then put it in after.

Such a great gift. It’s messy though. Nothing wrong with that, it’s expected when you have an activity involving soil

I really wanted to like this, which i bought to do with my 2 yr old granddaughter who LOVES plants! I bought used which came with no seeds, not deal breaker as i had prepared for this. But this totally reminds me of some junk plant project you'd find at a dollar store. Which is not worth much more than $1. Price aside-the assembled of this plastic junk was enough for me to want to return it. There is no clear assembly instructions which by looking at it unpackaged didnt seem difficult but let me tell you….nothing seems to really fit or stay. I had to put it aside & will try again another day. For now it just sits in the “to do” pile :(
