If I could give this app NO stars I would! I thought this would work like the 'Where's My Droid' app, which I love! I could not get it to call out or show the map and there are no instructions on how to use the 'Find My Kindle' app so it is absolutely worthless! I thought I might be able to find instructions if I logged in from my desktop, but it would only allow me access 1 out of approximately 10 times and there were no instructions to be found. I'm not sure why its not allowing me to log in now. When I searched the web for instructions, I only found other posts complaining of the same thing. I will be deleting this app!
This app is the best app ever I just love this app it's so good right to find your Kindle when you lose it or I also put it on my phone which also has it so we can find my phone to and you can make the phone making noise and the Kindle so when you lose it and you know if it's in the building in your house or whatever you can play noise as many times as you need until you find it is long as it has a little bit of Wi-Fi and is charged
This app works, but so far only with my android phone and android tablet. I would really like to be able to locate my phone using my Windows 10 computer, but so far have not found any instructions on how to do this, or if it is even possible.
I have 2 kindle fire HD in the house and my 2 year old usually plays with one of them during the day and sometimes it is hard to find the kindle when we get home as he usually hides it or drop it under the bed or couch. This app makes it easier to find the device. I deducted 1 star because when the device is off for a while the app does not seem to wake it up right away. I'm not sure how this app wakes up the device but there are time where the other device will show offline and you have to keep pressing the make a noise button untill it changes to online and makes the noise.
This app does not work (Amazon: try it yourself). Plus, there are no instructions on how to use it. WHY DOESN'T KINDLE DEVELOP IT'S OWN "TRACKER APP" TECHNOLOGY FOR ITS KINDLE DEVICES? A MISSED OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE MONEY AND SATISFY CUSTOMERS. EVEN IF JUST DEVELOPED TO FIND IN YOUR HOME WOULD BE OF GREAT OF VALUE. (SEE "CUBE TRACKER" TECHNOLOGY). PS I KNOW YOU HAVE A TRACKER SYSTEM, BUT DEVELOP AN "APP" THAT MAKES YOUR KINDLE MAKE A SOUNDS SO IT CAN BE DISCOVERED.
As others have said, you have to install this app on both the seeking device and the lost device, and it doesn't work in locating a Kindle Fire long distance. There's no mapping, but it will play your text entry aloud-- so you can find a nearby mislaid KF (if it's turned on and the battery isn't dead). It will also work to locate the other device (e.g., your cellphone) from your KF, but the voice playback isn't very loud on my LG phone. Importantly, it DOES map the phone's location, too. But other apps are better for that-- you can't use this to remotely lock/erase your cellphone, for example. Also, the recorded alarm ("I'm here") plays only once, and is over in a second-- maybe not enough time to find your lost device on the first try? (Yes, you can type in a longer lasting message but, maddeningly, you can't save it for future use; you'll have to type it in again the next time.) All in all, the free version has some value, especially if you often forget where you put your KF.
