Product Description

Clint Walker (Cheyenne) is a soldier of fortune looking for payback in this rock-solid Western, the first live-action film produced by Hanna-Barbera. When soldier-turned-mercenary Jack Rutherford (Walker) returns home to his wife (Stefanie Powers) after spending years as a prisoner of war, he finds she's sold their ranch and run off with another man. Trailing her south of the border, he discovers she's living with Simon Fuegus (Pedro Armendariz Jr.), a Mexican revolutionary who's used the ranch money to buy ammunition and guns. So when Fuegus refuses to give him his share, Jack decides to kidnap the rebel and regain what is rightfully his. Alex Karras costars in this offbeat adventure from John Llewellyn Moxey, director of the cult favorites The City of the Dead and Genesis II.

Not Cheyenne, but just as good, so be sure and rent it!
I’m a huge Clint Walker fan and have been ever since Cheyenne, I have all of the Cheyenne episodes on DVDs along with his autograph. Some of you may remember back in 1957 and 1958 when Cheyenne had to share the spotlight with Sugar Foot, staring Will Hutchins. The two shows rotated every other week, primarily because westerns took longer to produce than most other TV series, and they couldn’t get an episode completed in just a weeks’ time. They also rotated later every week with Bronco staring Ty Hardin. This Hardcase movie was fun to watch, and I enjoyed it very much. Although the ending was a little disappointing. I was hoping that Clint would ride off into the sunset with Stefanie Powers, but it wasn’t to be. I think the story line explained why pretty well.. It kept my attention and will give it 5 stars, or a grade of A-.

Walker portrays sorrow and pain with such effectiveness that I could only watch this in small segments. The plot is okay, and the ending works. Stefanie Powers has some scenery chewing hollering but also some subtle and powerful scenes. Alex Karras is really good. He should have had more of a career in acting. The historical time frame is sketched in but doesn’t add much beyond the situation.

I have been a Clint Walker admirer for many years and of course we always associate him with Cheyenne and that is a roll we will never stray from. This performance was his best and not surprisingly his attitudes still prevail. The honesty, tenderness compassion supposedly taught him from the Cheyenne training is present in this role although we see a more mature attitude. Worth buying and I will watch it many times. I have all his series that are out there but one wonders why the power of money people have so ignored his talent. My husband laughed at my crush on Clint Walker...of course we were 1500 miles apart but he is #1 in my book. I anxiously await the other films I have ordered. great viewing!

I really enjoyed this movie, which was made-for-TV in the early 70's. Clint Walker plays Jack Rutherford, a soldier-of-fortune, who returns to Texas to find his ranch sold and his wife (played by Stefanie Powers) vamoosed to Mexico and shacking up with a Mexican revolutionary. Is he pissed? YES, and he has a plan to get even. It's not a terribly long movie, and it has some interesting plot twists. Try it, you'll like it!
