VIVA DUETS is the third duets-themed project from 17-time Grammy winner Tony Bennett, following the platinum selling and critically praised DUETS and DUETS II CDs. Featuring many top names in the Latin recording industry, VIVA DUETS finds Bennett performing his greatest hits with a celebrated roster of artists including Marc Anthony, Christina Aguilera, Ricardo Arjona, Chayanne, Franco De Vita, Gloria Estefan, Vicente Fernández, Juan Luis Guerra, Dani Martín, Romeo Santos, Thalía and Vicentico. A truly international endeavor, VIVA DUETS, features performances in English and Spanish, with artists representing nine countries and three continents.

Tony Bennett is known for recording duets live and VIVA DUETS was no exception, with sessions recorded in Ft. Lauderdale, New York, and in the case of famed Mexican performer Vicente Fernández, on his 400 acre ranch in Guadalajara. All of the tracks are from Bennett’s extensive hit catalog, with the exception of the duet with Vicente Fernández, which features an English/Spanish version of the song, "Return To Me," originally recorded by Dean Martin. VIVA DUETS presents Bennett's classic songs with an international flavor that will generate widespread appeal for this unique multi-lingual presentation. Working with this unprecedented list of Latin artist, many of whom he met for the first time in the recording studio, Bennett commented, “Each of these artists were so warm and welcoming that there was an instant rapport. Latin music has always been about melody and harmony and a lot of soul, so there was a very close artistic connection with each duet guest. I am absolutely thrilled about the record.”

    I have a collection of Tony Bennett duets, and even though I don't understand much Spanish, I have to say this particular compilation is well done. On each selection, one could tell that the duets were well prepared and that the voices blended well. The music was not overbearing so the balance between vocalists and music was very good. All in all, this CD was a pleasant listening experience.

    This is a very satisfying CD with beautiful music all the way through. Several well known Latin artists who blend perfectly with Tony's voice. My favorite song was the last one "Return to Me" with the great voice of Vicente Fernandez and the full Mexican Symphony Orchestra.

    Loved it! I'm very familiar with quite a few of the collaborators on this album, and I've heard of the good works of the rest. And I love Tony Bennett's music. So I was very happy to hear about this album.

    It was so wonderful to hear these familiar tunes, and the twist they got from artists like Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, Chayanne, Juan Luis Guerra, Thalia, Ricardo Arjona and Franco De Vita. THe icing on the cake was the very warm, emotional duet between Tony and Vicente Fernandez.

    So if you're a Tony Bennett fan looking for something familiar but at the same time wonderful, I recommend you give this one a listen!

    It has been quite some time since I ordered this CD from Amazon, but I never grow tired of listening to it Tony is my favorite singer and even though he is over eighty year old, his voice is still as melodic as ever.

    We need more music of this type on the radios and television. Tony says in his latest book, he would never stoop to sing less than a top notch song. I applaud his standing up for the Great America Songbook songs in this CD.
